  1. Z gets angry and does dumb [expletive] like this all the time its lost meaning. It seems to me every time he gets pissed at the team is when HE does poorly. What was he fed up with yesterday? Take him out back and shoot him in the head for all I care. Dudes done, dudes a frickin goon. He clearly hates being on the cubs. He'll never say exactly that, but you know its true. If the team was winning, none of this would ever happen with Z. A Z that wins is a happy Z
  2. world series caliber defense but 7 mil a year is way too much
  3. what did you expect dusty to do?
  4. dexter what good does soriano's power if he a pitcher and #8 hitter right in front of him? why wouldn't it be better to have high OBP people in front of your power hitters?
  5. a-ram skills are on their way out, OPS '04-'08 2004 - .951 2005 - .926 2006 - .913 2007 - .915 2008 - .898 he turns 31 next year, and i don't see his offensive production being better than it was this year. he'll probably OPS around .860-.870 which is still well above average production from third basemen, but i think someone might overpay for him and the cubs could get mlb ready talent or top prospects
  6. interleague record makes the most sense
  7. yeah you cant blame marshall for making a bad pitch there...manny just beat him. i've seen aramis hit some low balls out of the park, but none that low
  8. did they seriously just diss joe cocker's performance of "...with a little help from my friends"?
  9. those are the 3 I was thinking as well. are viewers dumb enough to pick Jeter? Sweet Jesus, I hope not. Please please no. I'll set 5-1 odds that say they are. I also bet Paul O'Neill would be an honorable mention if they list any. what about scott brosius
  10. what about omaha? they absolutely love their baseball out there. a team out there would at least have fans with expectations, as opposed to putting one back in montreal (wtf?)
  11. http://trades.mlblogs.com/archives/2008/07/rays_to_acquire_bay.html
  12. They lost a guy who was essentially a 110 OPS+ hitter with a backup who has something like a 60 OPS+, so they went out and got a guy with an OPS+ over 100. I think it's a lot more than a name acquisition. They needed a catcher. Yeah, I know. Still find it ironic that it happens to be one of the biggest names in catching of the last 20 years i dont understand how its ironic. he should be exactly who you expect the yankees to get Ironic in that the Yankees have had nothing but big name superstars come to their team throughout this decade through trade or free-agency and the big trade they make happens top be for one of the biggest names in the.... you know what i quit, I'm just making an observation, not critical analysis just use the word ironic correctly in the future, that's all.

  14. http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/blog/index?entryID=3508272&name=mlb_trade_deadline i don't know why they choose joba as a comparison when jenks is probably a better comparison, considering like the angels in '02, the white sox won in '05 actually nevermind, i do know why they choose joba to compare, its espn.
  15. they even made it a point to highlight his 97 mph fastball in the dirt
  16. read the thread title and thought he was injured \:D/
  17. deception is part of the game, imo. if a catcher can frame a ball a couple inches off the plate and fool the umpire...i don't want that part of the game to be removed. if a player can sell a tag that he missed, or sell a catch that he actually trapped or whatever, more power to him. was it tejada that put a swipe tag down on a guy in the all star game at 2nd base and got the out, but replays showed that he missed the tag? well the ball beat him and he sold it well. thats an out. you get lucky on some calls, you get unlucky on some other ones. there are situations where having a camera wouldnt help solve the situation. what would you do about turning double plays? would you replay every double play to determine whether the 2nd baseman was actually on the bag when he had the ball? because in well over half of the double plays made in the league, they aren't. but its just part of the game
  18. gregg olson! http://i24.ebayimg.com/02/i/000/d9/df/4bed_1.JPG http://i23.ebayimg.com/05/i/000/d9/fc/2685_1.JPG my brother and i when we were kids would look at his baseball card and just start cracking up. he makes some goofy as faces and has a funky delivery (from what i can tell in the pictures) the dude had a pretty interesting career too. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gregg_Olson only hit was a home run, pitched in a combined no-hitter, intentionally walked barry bonds with the bases loaded, threw a no hitter in a state championship game in high school
  19. david wright was probably next in player votes
  20. what the hell makes this so funny? i guess i see the joke you guys are trying to make, but it isn't funny. you guys are like michael richards doing a comedy routine
