  1. Wow... that was a shot. Are we sure he is just a 15-or-so HR guy? better question: are we sure he's not the #1 prospect in the game? Any idea what his contact numbers look like this year Russell (20) is at 81.4% with Tennessee Bryant (22) was 68.8% Baez (20) was 65.5% i don't anticipate Ks being a problem for Russell at all What were Starlin's contact numbers in AA (and where do you find them)?
  2. Good point! How does someone that smart mess up looses? Just let that bloom a bit.
  3. Is that Arya Stark? That is no one.
  4. It's April 26 and we are ten games out of first. I hope that this is the last year that this is acceptable.
  5. Prior is only 33 I like my rage edit better. Although, it is a coin flip between rage and depression.
  6. Len thinks we should feel old because Wandy Rodriguez is 35. Kerry Wood is 36, I'm not sure what to feel beyond rage.
  7. Hah, after watching the first two jags games, I'm not sure we could beat the Lions team that went winless. They could certainly score on us, and we can't score on anyone. This is the worst sports team I have ever seen and since I'm posting here you can assume I have seen lots of bad teams.

  9. Move to LA, plz. I still think I prefer weather to quakes. I think.
  10. The FSL should be abolished, but I am cursed in this regard. I spent 4 days out in AZ to visit friends last summer with some intent to visit Mesa...It rained all four days. I moved back to Gainesville this July. Most rainfall for Gainesville ever in July (Third rainiest month ever). I should just move to Seattle with the rest of my kind.
  11. Alcantara and Soler made the World Futures team, and Baez is on the fan ballot.
  12. Is there any recent scouting report on Leal? The most recent I can find is here, which says he was high 80's, and now may be low 90's, on the fb with an advanced breaking ball and he has a change-up. Also, there is apparently a ballot initiative to vote Baez into the futures game.
  13. There is about a 12-15 day window left before Daytona is useless.
  14. After a quick look at fangraphs, I see he is young for a pen arm and can throw in the low to mid 90's but doesn't miss many bats. His velocity may have regressed this year (SSS) and his minor league numbers are decent as a reliever. Does anyone know anything else?
  15. As a native North Floridian, this is a terrible place to play a mid afternoon sport that requires dry weather. This has been a fairly dry may, and yet...Well, June, July, and August will be awful. It tends to rain here a lot in the summer afternoons. Back in my college days I worked at the ball park in Jax. It sure seemed like afternoon games delayed at 15%+ and got postponed nearly 10% of the time. As much as I hate it, we need to relocate from Daytona.
  16. Thank you for this. It was fun having the Astros broadcast as a change of pace. I do miss the ad free backstop, fwiw. Hey, remember when Lenny Harris cost us a pennant cause dusty was afraid of pitching to him?
  17. 'Roids and Greenies are very different, but I mostly wanted to make you mad 'cause it's easy to do.
  18. I, too, find it difficult to believe things almost no one believes.
  19. I think it started earlier than that, but it seems about right. Is there an official range for the steroid era? I'd guess Late '80s w/ Conseco and McGwire were its earliest stars. the beginning of the steroid era is whenever hank aaron started snorting deer semen or w/e so he could break the hr record Same time Dusty Baker invented the high five?

  21. Sorry, I seem to have been in a deep freeze for about 5 years, your new outfields frighten and confuse me.A .700 OPS would have been good for 51st in the league last year amongst OF. Ahead of guys like Ichiro, Rasmus, Maybin, and Stubbs. That's perfectly fine for your 4/5 OF who isn't going to be playing everyday in the current run environment. Yes, yes it is. I have not adjusted to the 'roid-free era. I was trying to make a reference as out of date as my perception (mid-1990's), but I may have done it poorly.
