  1. I expect that Ohman would have zero fantasy value. He's not likely to get many wins or any saves, and even if he has a low ERA, he probably wouldn't have enough innings to have an impact on the team as a whole. Some of those picks (e.g. Jackson, Barfield) I think would be better picks for a keeper league than for this season.

    ugh

You've got me beat. This is only my 38th year of following the Cubs. :D
  3. That is if he has no pain doing the towel drill. One step at a time. And if both of those steps go well he'll be sent to the cubs.com board on a rehabilitation assignment. :D
  4. Basically, it's the fantasy equivalent of a DH. Any position player not in your active lineup at another position can fill the utility spot.
  5. First, the photo has to be on a web site (such as Photobucket), not on your computer. You then use the same tag as you would to post a picture, except you do it through your profile. You type [ img]URL for picture[/ img] (without the spaces in the tag).
  6. Fergie Jenkins might beg to differ. Z is definitely an elite pitcher, however.
  7. This is what we do: Or this: ](*,)
  8. Updating earlier reports, NSBB forum doctor Tommy John has announced that Fred is scheduled to start a simulated thread within the next two weeks.
  9. That's why Wade Miller was signed. :D
  10. It was an osprey. They weren't endangered at the time (not sure about now), but they were recognized by Florida as a bird of special concern. There were actually two ospreys, Ozzie and Harriett (I don't recall which one Ryu hit). I believe an autopsy revealed that the one he killed had some type of disease anyway, although I may be thinking of something else. I remember the Cubs decided they couldn't keep him at Daytona after the incident, so they sent him back down to Lansing for the rest of that season, then jumped him up to West Tenn the next year. I believe he got a fine and community service but no jail time.
  11. I'm actually hoping for Rick Pitino (probably wishful thinking). I saw first hand the magic he can work because I was a graduate student at Kentucky when he took them from a complete shambles to one Christian Laettner miracle shot away from the Final Four in three years (this is when Kentucky was under NCAA sanctions). He's nationally known, he has a strong recruiting base in the east, and players love to play for him. As you say, though, ANYBODY would be an improvement.
  12. A commentary on who you hope the next IU coach it? :D
  13. As have the winning picks (for the second year in a row). I may be the bottom-feeder in the league during the fantasy baseball season, but I rule in the NCAA picks. :D
  14. I went this past Friday (7-6 win over Los Angeles of Anaheim). What stuck out the most about that game was all the base clogging :D . The Cubs took eight walks in the game, including four in a row with two out in the bottom of the 1st to score their first run.
  15. I hadn't thought about it being a case of him just being cut off. That could have been the case if they were out of time.
  16. I'm guessing he meant Roy Williams. A couple of years ago he asked Williams if he was leaving for North Carolina immediately after Kansas was beat in the tournament.
  17. I don't think it's ever been available online. In the past I always had to order it by phone. Unfortunately, I don't remember the phone number, and without the search feature working I can't go back and find previous posts that gave the number.
  18. Interesting having a Daily Herald article where Bruce was the interviewee and not the reporter. That's due to the experience they gained by doing Q & A sessions for us last year. :D
  19. I'm sure that will be true even if Iowa loses. At least it probably won't be talked about as much during the game as it would have been if it were Iowa vs. Indiana (of course, since I'm an IU fan, I would have preferred avoiding that matchup by having Indiana vs. Michigan State for the championship :D ).
  20. This year I'm going to try to get to at least one game at Wrigley (which I haven't done for a few years). The timing of the Washington series conflicts with when I'll likely be vacationing (I'm not sure where yet), so if I do go to any road games this year it would likely be the weekend series in Atlanta in early September. BTW, I can't claim responsibility for the rain in Phoenix, since that occurred when I was leaving, not when I was trying to go to a game. :D
  21. That's a possibility. I can think of a certain pitcher on the current team who left the Cubs and then returned (and it's happened several times in the past as well, e.g. Jenkins, Holtzman, etc.). Not likely with Sosa, but theoretically possible.
  22. With all the money they spent on upgrading the bullpen, he'd BETTER use them.
  23. definitely. I was at a rainy game in Washington with him last year. In fact, everytime I've ever seen him, it's been raining. Just like that guy from "So long and thanks for all the fish". I remember that quite well; it was really raining hard a couple of times (including when I got to the stadium). I was surprised they got the game in. And to make matters worse, after waiting out the rain and watching the Cubs lose, I had a lengthy delay on the Metro due to a train breakdown.
  24. That's exactly what happened a few years ago. During Davis' first year (when he was interim coach) Alford was considered the next likely IU coach, and IU played Iowa in the championship game of the Big Ten tournament (Iowa won). It almost turned out to be deja vu all over again, as Yogi would say.
  25. He'd BETTER not.
