  1. I'd prefer first place in October. :D
  2. How long has Soto been hurt? Is that why Hill was called up instead? I only mentioned what Raisin posted in the Minor League forum; I don't know about that situation myself. I believe Raisin said that Soto hasn't caught since a couple of days after Hill was called up, so he may have been sore at the time. I think it's likely that was why Hill was called up instead, but that's just my speculation, nothing authoritative.
  3. Augie's actually back in the major leagues. He was just called up by Arizona a day or two ago.
  4. Geez, you don't even know if you got hurt?
  5. At first I forgot what forum I was in and thought this was referring to Bartolo Colon until I read the article. The closer may miss the rest of the year, and Colon only gets a week off. Something about that doesn't seem right to me.
  6. I agree with bringing Cedeno back up if he's going to play, but not to be a reserve (at least not yet). It looks like he may have worked of the Dustiness at Iowa, but I think he needs to continue playing regularly, whether it's for the Cubs or in AAA. As far as Soto is concerned, as Raisin first mentioned in the Minor League forum, he's currently unable to catch because of a shoulder injury, so he's currently playing 1B and DH. It doesn't sound serious, so hopefully he'll come up to replace Hill when he's able to catch again.
  7. Yes; he broke his wrist near the end of May and is out 4-6 weeks.
  8. now six. of course in those 27 games he'd get to 7-8 grounders that most shortstops wouldn't touch. That's similar to what I've heard Ernie Banks' early career as a shortstop was like (he had moved to first base by the time I started following baseball, so his earlier years at shortstop I'd only heard about). My understanding is that he had high error totals, but that was largely because he sometimes got to and misplayed balls that most shortstops wouldn't even get to, so maybe the result was a one-base error when usually it would have been a double. I'm all for giving Cedeno another chance with the Cubs if they can rid themselves of Izturis. I wouldn't want to bring him back up as a reserve right now, though, considering how well he's doing with regular playing time at Iowa.
  9. Actually Raisin posted it first (in another thread in this forum). That's how I found out about it.
  10. There was a post in the minor league forum that Soto injured his shoulder and can't catch for now, so he's been playing 1B and DH. That would explain why Hill and not Soto was called up when Blanco went on the DL.
  11. IMB lost my vote by starting the rant against me a week or so ago. [-X
  12. The reason it didn't come out correctly is that you had the "disable bbcode in this post" box checked. I un-checked the box, and if you look at your earlier post again you'll see it's fine now. You were using the correct code, but having that box checked overrode it.
  13. They don't have to "convince" Floyd to be a bench player, they need to TELL him that. Floyd doesn't make playing time decisions; Lou does. Well, Lou needs to start making better ones. For all his talk, the vets get a lot of playing time. That I agree with. He needs to make decisions based on who will give the team the best chance of winning, not based on promises that may have been given to players. It needs to be understood that any such promises are based on the assumption that the players actually earn their continued playing time.
  14. That means nothing. Wrong. See: Santo, Ron.
  15. They don't have to "convince" Floyd to be a bench player, they need to TELL him that. Floyd doesn't make playing time decisions; Lou does.
  16. I updated your update (one place you showed Iowa as 38-36 rather than 38-26).
  17. I'll vote for abuck if he promises to throw our next fantasy matchup to me. :D
  18. More partial to Stimpy myself. http://www.bdt.com/david/images/rs001.jpg
  19. Yes, and a little bit of Floyd. Cliff went public with expectations of playing more, although I don't think he's being a real complainer. Jacque has whined since day 1 about how he's been treated, regardless of the fact that he hasn't produced, 27 HR last year or not. last year he produced fine.... this year he's been a complete joke. Joke Jones.
  20. He better not. He's not.
  21. I just can't get over the fact that I didn't like the '04 team. They were as unlikeable as the '03 team was downright loveable and memorable. The enduring memories for me of '04 are Wood losing his sh*t and getting thrown out of a game where he lost his cool and blew it against the Reds, and Latro-- I don't even want to say his name, THAT relief pitcher absolutely imploding, giving up a long one to Victor Diaz on the Mets, blowing a snot rocket, and blowing our season. And that whole nonsense with Chip and Stoney? I can't fault anyone for voting them as the most talented or best team of the last ten years, but they certainly don't get my vote. The poll is for the best team, though, not the most likeable.
  22. Mike Schmidt hit .196 in his first season, and he turned out OK. I'm not saying Cedeno will be anywhere near as good as Schmidt, but I think he may just have some Dustiness to work off. He did hit during his callup in 2005, so I think it's premature to write him off.
  23. I'd have Z go 8 innings and let Dempster finish. :D
  24. I've been on the Cuban bandwagon since before the Cubs were even for sale.
  25. All of the new registrations that are shown have not been activated. There haven't actually been any new activations since well before this tournament was first mentioned. A large number of the registrations are from bots, and distinguishing between the legitimate registrations and the bots takes time, which is one of the reasons registrations have been taking time to activate recently. he regular interface shows the newest registration; the Premium interface shows the newest activation. right, i was looking at the premium interface. all the gibberish users had profiles, you could PM them, etc. You want links? No need for that; since they aren't active they wouldn't be able to log in to read PM's anyway. Look at the bottom of the main forum page to see the newest activated member (currently baseball girl); the ones shown on the member list are registered but not necessarily activated. I think I was a bit misleading with my comments on regular vs. Premium. I was referring to the newest member shown on the main forum page, not what you see when ou click on the member list.
