  1. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2910079&teamId=16&sport=mlb Off to Transactions.
  2. I bet you're glad they brought him in before the 7th tonight though. :D
  3. It doesn't sound to me that this would be a season-ending injury. Hopefully he'll be back pitching somewhere soon so he can get his career back on track. He needs to start making progress quickly so the Cubs can be justified in protecting him and starting the option clock when he becomes Rule 5 eligible.
  4. Before reading this thread I didn't know if CWS meant College World Series or Chicago White Sox. :D
  5. There easily could be a game or two taken off Lee's suspension. It does happen, even with the Cubs. And just because they cut Lee's suspension (if they do) doesn't mean they also have to cut Young's.
  6. If Zambrano starts, your in trouble. Oops, wrong board. :D
  7. It is more blessed to give than to receive. :D
  8. Surprisingly easy win for me after being nearly tied with the same number of remaining starts a day ago. We both had one positive and one negative pitching start, but my positive start was larger and Tooterstorms' negative start was larger. And I got a significant amount of help from the Cubs today when they threw batting practice to Gonzalez. And it's a milestone win for me, as I have now surpassed my previous high win total for an entire season (4 in 2005, 6 last year). My next goal is to win more this year than my two previous years combined (that shouldn't be very hard).
  9. A new recommendation from Longhorns Steakhouse: http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b174/kanumber08/Picture002.jpg I've had this for a couple days and I'm still trying to eat it. It's freaking massive. Trying to buy my second round vote already? :D
  10. Aren't they now the Nationals' AAA affliate? Yes they are.
  11. A few months ago Slugger mentioned a restaurant chain she likes (I believe this was in one of the Olive Garden rants) and I was coincidentally vacationing in Charleston at the time. When I asked her where it was located she also mentioned a favorite dessert they have. So I have to base my vote on how good her recommendation was. Fortunately for her, and unfortunately for sweetpeteman, the restaurant and the dessert were very good. :D
  12. Tulowitzki has been awful this year, granted he has big upside. Theriot and Tulowitzki have virtually been the same plyer, except Tulowitzki has hit a couple more dingers and Theriot has stolen more bases. Adding Tulowitzki would be a wash with the way he's playing right now, we might as well keep Theirot at SS and Fontenot at 2B. Plus if we trade Barrett we need a bat to supplement the loss of power from his position, and Hawpe fits the bill as well as the debacle in RF, and I'd miuch rather have Hawpe and his 139OPS+ over Tulowitzki's 84OPS+ Considering Tulowitzki was called up last season, the Cubs would have him under their control for a considerable amount of time. He also skipped AAA altogether, so some of his development time went flying out the window. He'll get better with time. I'd do Jones + Barrett for Tulo in a heartbeat. However, something tells me that's not going to happen. The Rockies have a pretty good system talent-wise, although many of them have been struggling or putting up unimpressive numbers on the season with a few exceptions (Greg Reynolds). Plus, the team has shown a complete blasé attitude about throwing around cash towards players who don't deserve it...so something tells me money wouldn't be a factor in terms of acquiring talent. I think they'd make a good trade partner. Franklin Morales, please. I think he might be hurt right now, though. Morales or Tulowitski would be nice, but there's zero chance of it happening. Yeah, as nice as adding Tulo would be, he is their #1 prospect and I dounbt trading them two older players with expensive contracts in comparison would be high on their to do list Maybe if we add Izturis to the package. :D
  13. Nah, he'd never last that long. He'd trip getting off the plane at O'Hare and break his ankle.
  14. I'm willing to trade Washburn for a decent (not necessarily great) minor league prospect or a draft pick. I need to make room for Reyes since he was called back up.
  15. Schappert doesn't inspire a lot of confidence in what is essentially a must-win game. :(
  16. The article mentioned that he'd miss at least six weeks, so it sounds like he could still possibly salvage August. Hopefully the comment about him not returning to Boise means that he will get some time in Peoria as opposed to missing the rest of the season.
  17. That doesn't seem like that hard of a choice! Based on their usual production, no; however, on a given day Webb and Hernandez can suck, and El Duque is pitching against the resurgent Yankees.
  18. I lead by 2.5 (first time all week I've been ahead, I believe) and we each have two pitching starts remaining. This match is going right down to the wire. If I pull it out I owe a big debt of gratitude to Livan Hernandez for his -20.25-point performance earlier this week. I have four possible starts tomorrow (with Reyes coming back up and starting). I'm going with El Duque and Webb and sitting Reyes and Washburn; hopefully I made the right choices.
  19. I think Augie Ojeda would qualify.
  20. I recall Harry hyping a player named Tony Woods as a third base candidate during Spring Training telecasts one year (this was when Gary Woods was also on the team, before the days of Gary Scott). I don't think Woods ever played in the majors.
  21. I believe it was mentioned in the Minor League forum that he's reporting to Iowa tomorrow. A player has 72 hours to report after being sent down.
  22. Matt Harrington.
