  1. It's definitely not Pie; they're committed to giving him an extended chance. One possibility I don't think has been mentioned in this thread yet is Pagan. Theriot and Derosa can both play outfield in a crunch.
  2. That wouldn't make sense if Lou wants to add a pitcher. It also makes no sense to me to lose Petrick for 10 days just because he may not be able to pitch today. I believe we've seen the last of Jones or Izturis for good, or the last of The Riot for now.
  3. My offer wouldn't have required you to drop anyone from your minor league roster. :D
  4. I am aware, but i thought people here would be more intelligent. I didn't mean to imply that you shouldn't have the same poll here. I think it's interesting at times to run the same poll here that's on another site and see how the results compare.
  5. Although worded differently, this is also the current poll on the cubs.com home page.
  6. Smokies smoked by Carolina, 9-0 (final).
  7. I was quite impressed with Petrick today. Two scoreless innings to keep the Cubs close enough to come back. Keep up the good work.
  8. First inning today--bad, bad, bad. Beyond that, I was impressed with the way he got it together and prevented any more damage and kept the Cubs close enough to get back in the game.
  9. Hope he does it again tomorrow. I'd prefer that the Cubs win by so much he doesn't even pitch. :D
  10. Negative 10.5 points from Cordero for me today.....I LOVE IT! \:D/
  11. That's actually the idea of this game. :D
  12. I'm in a 14-team league and have both Cabrera (Miggy) and Crawford. Crawford actually lasted until #19.
  13. I've really tumbled, from #35 to #588. Weaver and Ortiz got injured and stopped giving me big point totals and Dmitri Young is killing me. Also, I'm not getting the expected suckage from Podsednik since he's been injured most of the year. At least all of my players are actually playing in the majors, unlike my team last year.
  14. Guzman is injured and out for the rest of the year (yes, again). I don't think players are allowed to be traded while on the DL.
  15. I've upped my offer, but I don't know how competitive it is. If it isn't the best offer maybe you can let me know what you have been offered so I can think how realistic it would be for me to beat it.
  16. Seriously. We need to come together as a community, take a vote, and then start banning people for using Hawkisms. It perpetuates a stereotype and myth that we simply do not need on this board or need to accept as Cub fans. He is an awful awful baseball announcer and has no place on this board. We should also ban people who advocate trading for Alex Sanchez. :D
  17. I'd rather he stay with the minor leaguers - I have a feeling he'd make a greater impact on a young guy's hitting approach then a veteran big leaguer. That's fine with me too; I'm just glad he's with the Cubs and not another organization.
  18. I think many of us (including myself) were hoping for Joshua to be named major league hitting coach this past offseason.
  19. That was my understanding of how it would work all along, that the Trib would sell the Cubs before Zell takes over the Trib rather than Zell selling the team afterwards. I actually think it would HAVE to work that way unless Zell actually gets approved as an owner by MLB.
  20. It's hard to tell. Lou has brought Howry in 3 times and Marmol twice. And Ohman once. Bullpen by committee.
  21. Even better, have Jones serve the suspension in a Lee mask. :D
  22. True, but I don't think the players would have accepted a cap anyway.
  23. Actually there is a very good reason it could not be implemented. Specifically, the owners don't have the power to implement one on their own and the players clearly showed (by striking in 1994 and wiping out the postseason) that they'd never accept one. You seem to think the owners simply need to say there's a cap and that makes it so, but it doesn't work that way.
  24. My sweepstakes entry is in.
  25. Thread title changed once again since it now seems questionable whether Zell had anything to do with this. This thread may set a record for most changes in title. :D
