  1. My starting pitching has been killing me all season. Mine (including Webb) has been inconsistent; brilliant one start, putrid the next. I got putrid last week; I'm due for brilliant this week.
  2. Insightful comment. How does this crap stay on here? I think Meph got bored with baseball and decided to troll for a while. Maybe he doesn't like it when the Cubs win? Self-loathing? He's rooting for Redding against the Cubs tonight because Redding is on his fantasy team. He called the Cubs the TubbyCubbys.
  3. Slugger will probably be interested in this since she's a huge USC fan.
  4. So they will really be in trouble once Dmitri Young and Christian Guzman come back down to earth. Guzman is injured and out for the rest of the year.
  5. No, it's THE Riot. :D
  6. The following players are set to be free agents after the season: Cliff Floyd (mutual option) Cesar Izturis (club option) Daryle Ward (club option) Carlos Zambrano Scott Eyre (player option) Kerry Wood Wade Miller :x
  7. In other words you weren't really in control of when you left that game either; she was. :D
  8. I believe Looper is returning from the DL.
  9. 2006 WHIP Zambrano: 1.29 Marshall: 1.52 Career WHIP Zambrano: 1.28 Marshall: 1.44 Marshall still holds the edge for 2007 based on a few nice starts, but that margin is closing fast and will probably disappear within the next 2 starts Still, Z led the league in walks. Doesn't say much for him and those whip is mostly hits for Marshall and walks for Z. Z's control doesn't look to improve but Marshall's "stuff" does. And even if Zambrano doesn't improve his control, he's still a better pitcher than Marshall. Even with Zambrano's control issues, he's still had those awesome seasons. Even with what you call great control by Marshall, his best would be the worst full season Zambrano has seen in 5 years! And when Marshall has those 5 years of experience we'll see whose better. All we're doing now is debating without fair statistical comparison. But in a lot of ways we are. We can compare each player to the other at the same age. When Zambrano was Marshall's age, he was dominating major league hitters. I'm trying to take you seriously, but it's laughable to think Marshall is now or ever will reach the level of pitching that Zambrano has achieved. I'm not asking you to agree with me i'm just giving my opinion, and on paper Marshall deserves all star more than Z. Well, Zambrano may not have deserved the ASG. That's debateable. But Marshall's 8 starts of 3.50 ERA doesn't make him all-star worthy in any shape or form...and in now way makes him a better pitcher now, in the past, or in the future than Zambrano. If you were using hyperbole to state your love for Marshall, you should have dropped the inane arguments a long time ago. Because if you think Marshall really is better than Zambrano, I'm having trouble wondering if this is the first year you've actually followed baseball. No, it's not. Then you should observe things a little more closely. Marshall is in no way the pitcher Zambrano is. or you could stop getting so worried about my knowledge and worry about yours Or I could just laugh at the fact that someone thinks Marshall is better than Zambrano. go ahead laughter is good for you, maybe it'll make you smarter I think the intelligence factor in this argument is self-evident. This quote thing is getting long. Really.
  10. No, the pick will hurt you tomorrow; he's pitching against the Cubs, who have finally found an offense. Better luck with his next start.
  11. I've used up one pitching start to Quakers' two yet trail by just under 5 points. I like starting the week that way.
  12. I'm pretty sure the issue is who's better NOW, not who may be better in five years. And that's Zambrano, no question about it.
  13. and they're about 1 start away from Zambrano having superior statistics again this season Not if Marshall does what he is capable of. If they both do what they are capable of, Zambrano will easily outperform Marshall. maybe. Definitely.
  14. I'd say slim and none. They'd need to send someone down or DFA someone to make room for him on the roster (players still count against the 25-man roster while suspended, so the suspension won't open up a roster spot). I think they'll make do with Ward and perhaps Derosa.
  15. Barring a trade there isn't a starting spot available. That ship has sailed. A different bullpen role, maybe.
  16. My favorite Neifi moment was in 1998 when he hit a home run to beat the Giants and create a Wild Card tie between the Giants and Cubs. Of course, you probably meant your favorite moment when he was with the Cubs.
  17. And when he gets hit hard (which is extremely rare this year) we could say that he's lost all his marbles. :D
  18. I prefer my rants cooked.
  19. She did; I don't know if she still does. In fact, I believe she was in control of the team when Bud gave it up to become commish.
  20. My very first Cubs game in 1970 went into extra innings but we had to leave at the end of 9 because I had a Scouts meeting that night we needed to get back home for. I think that's the only time I left a major league game before it ended.
  21. I think that if the same question were asked of Cub fans in general, as opposed to NSBB members (many of who think more deeply about issues) the results may have been different. A lot of people who post here think about issues such as having the rest as opposed to simply wanting to see him pitch in the game.
  22. The number of wins a pitcher has says nothing about how well they're pitching. Of course, it would be asking too much to expect MLB to realize that.
  23. I'm guessing you meant you wouldn't care, and if so that's exactly my point too. If they win it this year all past suckage will be forgiven and they will have bought time to do any rebuilding needed under a new owner.
