    Week 2

Which makes me glad I have starters with exemptions (Bannister, Jackson, McGowan).
  2. No; you're probably thinking of Koronka. Welly was with Florida and Kansas City after leaving the Cubs. I forgot who Welly went too, thanks NCCF. And I think Red was right, it may have been Leicester. Leicester never pitched for the Rangers at the major league level, but he was in their organization in the minor leagues for awhile.

    Week 2

My bench (thanks to Edwin Jackson) outscored Raw's starting lineup on Thursday. Then again, my bench nearly outscored my own starting lineup. With my starters scheduled for three more starts this week, but only one more remaining fo my team, I may set a record for scoring by a reserve roster in a single week.
  4. Now "Happy Pawelek Day" would just be when (or if) he finally makes it to a full-season level.
  5. Yeah, that was 2004. The hurricanes also affected the Cubs at the major league level. That was the year an entire series in Florida was rained out, resulting in the Cubs going without a day off much longer than normally allowed by the CBA. I've always felt, and still feel, that the Cubs just wore down by the last week of the season and that was a factor contributing to their blowing the wildcard.

  7. Actually I think you have two more days. The deadline is midnight Pacific time Friday, and usually that wording means the end of Friday. So there's still Thursday and Friday to enter or make changes.

    Week 2

Three more strong pitching starts today (Bannister, Suppan, "the other" Santana). 131.5 to 19.25 lead for me at the moment. Who needs relief pitching? :D
  9. i'd say that detroit and texas are terribly stupid for giving away hamilton and renteria for not much at all. With Detroit at about 0-100 by that time they decided it was time to build for next year.
  10. And the one team that did play got shut out. Zero runs for the entire system for the day.
  11. Are the media guides, in particular the Cubs media guide readily available to the public? If so, where can they be purchased? outside of wrigley field before every game Or through the Cubs' merchandise department (1-800-248-9467). To order it by mail costs $21.95 total (including shipping), which is much less than people had been paying for it on eBay.

    Week 2

This is my 4th year in the league, and I've always been under the impression that you couldn't replace a player midweek just because he's sucking. My understanding, which is apparently wrong, was that you could replace a player (other than starting pitchers) in your lineup only if he's injured and reported to likely miss some time or if you make a trade during the week. On a related issue, K-Rod is expected to be out at least until the weekend (although he's not on the DL). So I picked up Scott Shields as a free agent (and dropped Lowe) since I didn't have any relief pitchers on my reserve list that I could swap in. So officially Shields replaces Lowe, even though he's really replacing K-Rod. Hopefully my 45-point lead and one pitching start advantage is enough to make up for only having one relief pitcher playing for at least the next few days.
  13. You mean they're deklineing. :D
  14. No; Pie needs regular playing time. He's not going to improve by sitting on the bench or going back to AAA.

    Week 2

A 47.5-4.75 lead, plus a 6-5 advantage in remaining starts. I'll take it. Both of us have bullpen woes.
  16. Former Cub catcher Michael Barrett is headed for the 15-day DL with an elbow injury. It sounds like it could be significant; he is going to have an MRI.
  17. No way can IU allow Crean to back out (assuming he's actually signed the contract). They cannot afford to go through another search during the same offseason (I'm talking about the effect on the program, not money-wise). If Crean hasn't formally signed the contract yet that could be another story.
  18. The issue came up again tonight right on schedule. This time it was only a minute or two before it was OK again.
  19. Don't think for one second that Pelphrey wouldn't be at the TOP of the list this time in Lexuntun. He might be the ONLY person on the list. I actually saw him play; I was in graduate school at UK during the first couple of years of his career. He (along with Deron Feldhaus and Richie Farmer) are basically gods at UK because they stuck out the probation and helped get the program back to the top. If Gillespie is allowed to go to OSU that would make two generations of Suttons that at least indirectly led to a coaching change at UK (Eddie directly when he was fired by UK and now Sean if Gillespie replaces him at OSU).
  20. I wonder if UK would even give OSU permission to talk to Gillespie. The last thing Kentucky needs is a second coaching search in two years. I think they have to keep Gillespie.
  21. YOU DON'T NEED TO SHOUT.
  22. The Cubs are now 4-3 since the thread was locked. And for those complaining about the Wood threads being locked, the Cubs are undefeated since they were locked. :D

    Week 2

I lead Raw by 25 points, plus he's already used up two starts while I've only used one. Lilly was very, very good to me (Thankfully the Cubs won anyway).
  24. I got it again about an hour ago I also had the same problem about an hour ago. I couldn't get back on the site for a couple minutes, but then the problem seemed to work itself out. Me too.
