  1. I've got a feeling of deja vu. In 2002 I went to Mark Prior's last start before being promoted to Iowa; that game was at Carolina. Today I went to the game at Carolina that could be Samardzija's last start before being promoted to Iowa.
  2. I was at the Smokies game. As mentioned Samardz did very well through 6, but tired in the 7th. Even though he loaded the bases with none out none of the runs actually scored ff of him, even though they were charged to him. They all scored courtesy of Mateo. He walked the first batter he faced on 4 pitches to allow the first run to score. The next batter hit a grounder to him, which he threw to home for the force; therefore he had a chance to get out of the inning with a double play and only one run scoring. Unorunately, that wasn't to be. The next batter got a 2-run double, followed by walk #2 to load the bases again, followed by walk #3 (Maybin) to score another run. Exit Mateo, enter Roquet. Rocky got the next two batters without any more runs scoring, but Mateo pitched 1/3 of an inning and gave up 1 hit and 3 walks. The most interesting play was in the bottom of the 4th. Carolina had runners on 1st and 2nd (the only inning until the 7th that Shark allowed 2 runners to reach base). Harvey (they also have a Harvey) then got a hard hit down the left-field line, which was called fair. He reached 2nd, the runner on 2nd scored, and the runner on 1st was thrown out at the plate tring to score standing up. However, the Smokies immediately argued the call, the umpires conferred, and reversed the call to foul, so the runners returned to their bases and Harvey was still up. Two pitches later he hit into an inning-ending double play.

That was the reason I thought we went into the draft process last season. This year newly-added players are listed; they weren't before. Because of that (since everyone can easily find out by being diligent, which admittedly I'm not always) I also thought minor leaguers were subject to normal waiver procedures.
  4. I'm planning a trip to the booming metropolis of Zebulon, North Carolina to go Shark-watching. And I'm thinking of going again Monday night, since Veal is scheduled to start.

    No, blame CT.
  6. Mike Burns is scheduled to start for Iowa, and the Shark for Tennessee. MiLB.com doesn't et have the scheduled starters for Daytona or Peoria listed. I'll let Raisin do his thing and give the full rundowns.

Check. 32.5 points for Santana, plus 7 for Shields. The Angels were very good to me. :D Almost a 50-point lead with one day remaining. I think I hear the fat lady singing.
  8. It might be anyway, since the Cubs won't have an opening at 3B for several years.
  9. SOME of us had faith in Lee from the very beginning and didn't have to burn a substitution to get him in. :D

Suppan and McGowan both had good starts today, and I had them benched. Hopefully I made the right choice going with Santana over them for my final start this week.
  11. Hopefully he starts a game in Carolina first.
  12. I'm there, weather permitting (tomorrow evening sounds very iffy).
  13. Try Saturday (if the report in the minor league forum is true).
  14. Just think if he played 1B instead. Hu's on first.
  15. Just like in football, they give you stat tracker for free at first but then it's 9.99 if you want it live like it had been. If not, you have to wait until the next day. what a joke I don't think it's a bad deal. If you're in more than one Yahoo league $9.99 covers them all.
  16. skip a time around I don't think there's an upcoming day off, so another starter would be needed as a replacement. It could be either Marshall or Lieber.
  17. That's not how the system works. Samardzija is Cubs major league property for 6 years assuming they put him on the 25 man roster for good after 3(I think) minor league seasons. I believe he was signed to a major league contract, which means the normal rules don't apply. With a major league contract the option clock begins immediaely, and Rule 5 isn't even an issue because he's already on the 40-man roster. In fact, if you look at the 40-man roster on cubs.com you'll see him listed.
  18. Tim- I believe they are archived on the MILB Gameday Audio page. We don't have the bandwidth on our website to archive them all. but MILB is supposed to. Cool. I'll search for it tonight. Thanks This link takes you to the MiLB.com Gameday Audio main page (free with registration). There's an icon showing archived broadcasts, and you can click on the link for a particular broadcast. For a previous day click on Select Date, then choose the day you want from the calendar and click on the link for the archived game.
  19. Now it's been four horrible outings in a row for Lilly. He has to be replaced.

you're fortunate wang **** himself last night because my offense was actually somewhat productive. if wang had just put up a zero, i'd be down 10 with a one start advantage. Very true, which is the reason he's my hero. He may single-handedly give me a win this week.

NC loves his Wang. No, I love abuck's Wang.
  22. You don't have to say "Richard" Pole and Sisler. Unlike cubs.com, Dick isn't sensored out here.
  23. I hadn't even heard that he had a new book out.
  24. I might trade Ervin Santana for Butler and Lincecum (especially in a keeper league), but that wouldn't even get talks started for Johan.
