I was at the Smokies game. As mentioned Samardz did very well through 6, but tired in the 7th. Even though he loaded the bases with none out none of the runs actually scored ff of him, even though they were charged to him. They all scored courtesy of Mateo. He walked the first batter he faced on 4 pitches to allow the first run to score. The next batter hit a grounder to him, which he threw to home for the force; therefore he had a chance to get out of the inning with a double play and only one run scoring. Unorunately, that wasn't to be. The next batter got a 2-run double, followed by walk #2 to load the bases again, followed by walk #3 (Maybin) to score another run. Exit Mateo, enter Roquet. Rocky got the next two batters without any more runs scoring, but Mateo pitched 1/3 of an inning and gave up 1 hit and 3 walks. The most interesting play was in the bottom of the 4th. Carolina had runners on 1st and 2nd (the only inning until the 7th that Shark allowed 2 runners to reach base). Harvey (they also have a Harvey) then got a hard hit down the left-field line, which was called fair. He reached 2nd, the runner on 2nd scored, and the runner on 1st was thrown out at the plate tring to score standing up. However, the Smokies immediately argued the call, the umpires conferred, and reversed the call to foul, so the runners returned to their bases and Harvey was still up. Two pitches later he hit into an inning-ending double play.
