    Yeah but that was because people hate ARod. He's only in the past couple years getting respect in the NY press. Plus he was opting out of his 250+ million contract to get 300+ million instead...I don't think there'd be that kind of flak for the Cubs hiring one of the game's best GMs. I dont remember any "flak" AROD took for signing when he signed, but I do remember people not liking him because of his playoff chokes and his huge contracts.

    do you mean to suggest that the Boston fans are not as excited/engulfed/interested in who we sign for a GM as we are? NO WAY Seeing as how it's their GM, they would have at least a little reason to be interested. judging from what you wrote, it sounds like they had some interest in it.

    Is that what they really said? I thought it was "He's our GM, and until we receive a request from someone to interview him for a higher position, he will remain at that position." That doesnt feel the same to me.

    I'm guessing there is a guy named Carl who lives in Missouri who is actually a Cardinal fan who comes here to promote train usage by using the reverse psychology method and posting under the avatar of "KyleJRM".

    From all indications, Ricketts is prepared to offer Theo the moon to come here. Not only that, Henry said he would not grant permission to the Cubs if it were a lateral move. right, but I guess I missed the part where Boston actually gave Ricketts permission to talk to him.

    My worry about no news is that they're working on a Theo extension in Boston. and why wouldn't they, Ricketts isn't offering anything better dear god we aren't going to get him are we

    that OR Ricketts only offered a GM role, which the Red Sox arent going to allow (and theo probably doenst want). so now Ricketts has to evaluate whether or not he's ok with Theo as Pres. this is my worry, and why there is no news.

    That was wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy later. it was, and Hendry was GM so he had more of a hand in it. BUT, Macphail still has the stink on him. I blame him as well.

    What powers do you think he'll have as President that would be a problem? I think he fears that somebody else would be the guy performing GM duties. yes, exactly. But also, its my lack of knowledge as to what duties would be required as Pres, and if they sop up too much of his time, will he have to delegate GM responsibilities to someone of less ability.

    this is actually what I fear, that Henry is saying to Chicago, go ahead, make him President. I don't know that I want Epstein as a President, I want him as a GM. I'm also wondering if Ricketts also only wants him to be the GM.
