Remember the last two years of Cutlers career? I'd assume that statistic wise with Stafford. He'd be stop gap but not much more.

if you are cutting both tackles and the #1 wr, Prescott might not be great anymore. Draft a tackle w/ the early pick you don't spend on WR. Bears have lost nothing from Massie's performance with Ifedi and Spriggs starting multiple games, spend another 1.5M for a player similar to those and they'll be fine if the rookie is decent. if you could pull that off, Bateman (yea, I know, I'm a homer) might be a perfect pick at where the Bears would be drafting. But how likely is it that Prescott will hit the open market? He's 27, plays a premier position and plays it well. why wouldn't the Cowboys at least franchise him? (I really don't know what the thinking is on Prescott and Dallas at the moment)

Prescott would be interesting, but is he going to be available and can the Bears afford him? Yeah, they could make it work. Cut Graham, Massie, Skrine, and Leno. Restructure Fuller. They can definitely get the space to make it work (easily if the cap is 195M). Dak is probably getting 35-40M AAV, but his cap number could be around 20-25M for 2021. Would probably mean no Robinson, but who cares if you have a great QB? Also, means you could spend a 1st or 2nd on a WR now that you don't have to take a QB. if you are cutting both tackles and the #1 wr, Prescott might not be great anymore.

I wouldn't mind if the Bears took BPA in the 1st and Mac Jones in the 2 or 3. I know he plays with a ton of talent, and has a good not great arm, but he excells at reading the defense and accuracy eta: Jamie Newman might be a better pick for that matter

Kind of sounds right. If so then I'm not going to worry so much about finishing horribly so we can draft super high to get a franchise QB, when most of the franchise QBs don't come from there. Besides, we've picked high QBs before too and they didn't magically result in SBs. Prescott would be interesting, but is he going to be available and can the Bears afford him?

I'm 90% joking. I could live with a trade up, but it really has to be smartly done and the guy he chooses had better be a perennial pro bowl player. As he is now, Trubisky is average to a hair above average, so anyone Pace replaces him with has to be better. I'd say he's pretty firmly in the below average category. It's just good scheme can mask below average, even over a fairly long span. the last 2 games have def helped his numbers and I should probably wait until the end of the season to qualify him, but my thoughts on trading up stand. I'm def snake bitten by rotten QB drafts, but there's a sense I have that "the devil you know is better then the devil you dont".

...and you all want to trade up He's allowed to trade up if its his own mess he gets to clean up lol. That's the pull for any GM mortgaging a future away. If he's signed through 2022 instead of 2021 he's basically still on the hot seat, which is just slightly better than being a true lame duck. I'm 90% joking. I'm less concerned they didn't score a TD in the 2nd and more thrilled that the D held Houston to 0 points in the second half. They were up by 23 at half. After that 80 yard run, Monty became the decoy. They ran a ton of play-action in the second quarter and Houston had to respect Monty which left their terrible pass D exposed

I think if he finishes 95 or higher, he's good enough to carry forward regardless of their record. It would open up the 1st rd pick to all kinds of options like WR and OT, and you could still take a QB in the 2,3, or later rounds as insurance He’s been playing against garbage defenses true, but what if he hits 100 and they miss the playoffs? I'd agree, he has to play well against garbage defenses, but I think the bigger change has been the playcalling

Only if he plays great the rest of the way out, the Bears win out, they make the playoffs, and they win two playoff games. Only Sid Luckman in 1945 and MCown’s hot stretch in 2013 are better seasons for QB rating. I think if he finishes 95 or higher, he's good enough to carry forward regardless of their record. Trubiskys passer rating up to 94.5 Where would he have to end the year for you to feel comfortable trying to resign him? I'd say 95

ahh, that playoff hump is a 0-7 record. thats not a hump, thats a horsefeathering grand canyon but I'd consider Lewis, he is a good coach
