  1. Frankly, I think Mizzou would flatten every other team in the Big Ten with the exception of Ohio State. That would be a fun game to watch. yeah, I'm not prepared to talk trash about Illinois until after Penn State plays them. I'm not very confident right now, even with the game at home. i'm not talking trash, but some illinois fans have gotten pretty cocky about their team. i think they forget that they were horrible 2 years ago. and frankly it seems like they have a lot of punks on their team too, getting up and hopping around after every first down or tackle for a loss. You weren't talking trash earlier you were making a purposeful post to get at Illinois fans. Everything was fine before you came in here trolling. Illinois has a good team this year I would expect their fans to be excited about it. FWI every team celebrates after first downs on the sidelines. The backups are there to fill in for the injured and get the starters pumped up. I would hope an admin reviews this thread and see who instigated the stupidness of the last two pages because it seems to be getting out of hand on almost any thread of significance.
  2. AP will go second ... he's young, and dominant the two things you evaluate on in a keeper league. I would take Frank Gore next. He is young, dominant, and will get hella catches and TD's with Martz but definately take a RB.
  3. Lousy Cannuck Juicebag... Looking over Gagne's #s, his CY year in 03 is just [expletive]. 100 more K's than H(137-37), ERA+ of 335, 2 HR in 306 batters faced, just wow. How the mighty have fallen. Kinda off topic, but I really resent Gagne for overshadowing John Smoltz when they were hands down the most dominant closers in the NL for that 3 year stretch. Gagne did it with PEDs while I really have to assume Smoltz has always been clean, everything I've ever heard about him points towards class act all the way. I think Marmol will be an awesome closer when/if they decide to put him in that role. With such filthy stuff he's got a way of making batters look stupid and lacking in motors skills. Fun to watch, as is his getting fired up like a mini-Z. and jk about the Cannuck part. I heart Canadia and many of her bands. I'm really sick of this throwing PED's in on anyone who has a couple good years then fall off. People have done that for the entire history of the league. Gagne didn't fall off he got hurt over and over again on his arm. Using your logic Prior must have been on PED's too. He hasn't fallen off due to the injuries he just stopped taking drugs. Anyways Marmol=our bullpen. As he goes so does the bullpen.
  4. I picked Pitt to get beat. BG went to a bowl game last year and returned 17 or 18 starters. Meanwhile Pitt has Wannstadt.
  5. That was us, and I'm insulted by that. NCCubFan, the Navy game next week is on Friday and on ESPN. It is going to be all kinds of awesome. And its the first of four BSU games that will be on either ESPN or ESPN2 this year.
  6. blasphemy!!! I like Bon Jovi but one the song alludes that we are an underdog which we aren't and two we would be the eleventy billionth team to use it.
  7. Add Gaudin. He has 13 0 era outings in 18 tries since the trade and take out the one horrific outing (6 era) and his era in that span is around 2. The first three plus will probably pitch 70% of our playoff relief innings. If we get one more bullpen guy to step up I could see us using a 4 man bullpen except in blowouts or lefty-lefty situations.
  8. that goes for about 5 seconds longer than it should
  9. i don't think he's saying they should replace marmol with ceda... just that marmol's inconsistency has created the need for another relief pitcher. which still makes no sense. yeah that's what he said which is moronic because Marmol hasn't been inconsistent
  10. That's what this guy from ESPN says. http://insider.espn.go.com/mlb/insider/columns/story?columnist=law_keith&id=3555437 Marmol had one two-three week bad stretch in the middle of the season but otherwise has been probably the most dominant RP in baseball. Inconsistent means bad outing, good outing, bad outing, good outing. Marmol was consistently dominant for a couple months then consistently bad for a few weeks and then again consistently dominant. It just annoyed me when I read it but didn't surprise me.
  11. your signature got me laughing literally out loud ... its a nice addition
  12. Morgan in left, Pierre in center, Taveras in right. It would be the Dustiest outfield ever. they are the dustiest because they would be so fast they would kick up a lot of dust right?
  13. Soo a Brandon Hance except for the whole smart thing.
  14. That and A-ram is having his usual year or maybe slightly worse than usual.
  15. Infinitely better in this case.
  16. I guess ESPN had updated yet even though I looked at 3 a.m.
  17. 1: Ask me again once September/Oct hits. Z is a career 17-10 (12-16 in August) in Setpember. With an ERA of 3.48 (4.07 in August), and a whip of 1.30 (1.34 in August). I suspect Z will turn it on with September hits. But right now, yeah, I would put Z at 3. But in a month, who knows........ 2: Lee's a future DH in waiting. I love his offensive game, but Soriano's more versatile, not to mention he will age better. Eh who knows. Sori is no doubt more athletic and there for will be able to not degrade on defense until later but he doesn't have much raw strength. He's got a great swing that generates a lot of power but when his bat slows with age I would expect him to quickly become a below average hitter.
  18. I got it as well. Used to play the video game, somewhat read the comic, and liked the movie.
  19. I believe it was in 2003 but one year around then our staff as a whole had more strikeouts than hits allowed and was either one of a few to do so in history or the first to (can't remember which and can't find article about it). Well this year we have 1026 SO's in 1073 innings. Yes that means we are behind but considering Marmol is back, Wood is back, Samardzija is up, and Harden replaced Gallahger (7.52 per 9 to 12.86 improvement) we got an atleast 50/50 shot of doing it this year. Just thought it was worth bringing up.
  20. no one knows what length of contract Lee would have wanted with the Cubs could be the same could not so I don't take length into factor just relative price per year. And Lee's production has held up because he routinely (from the games I've seen) either hits it into the porch or off it to get a double.
  21. and can only play one sooooo :beee:
  22. Its hard to suck when the conference doesn't exist
  23. way to go with an out of the blue not on topic belongs somewhere else post
