  1. You'd better believe it!
  2. He sure will. But for which team?
  3. I'm in NYC, so most people here are upset enough about the Mets collapsing and missing the postseason for the second straight year or the Yankees missing the playoffs for the first time since 1995, so I haven't gotten too much business, more apologies than anything else.
  4. DLee home jersey. Last night I was playing a gig during the game and was dressed in mufti, so I figured I should represent tonight.
  5. Also, labeled roster photos of those teams would help. Edit: here are a few labeled roster photos from that era: http://www.baseball-fever.com/showthread.php?t=75607&page=6 The socks are confusing though.
  6. I don't have any specific ideas, but if I wanted to find out and I had several hours to kill at work and distract myself I would do the following: 1) Search 1927-1932, 1934-1936 Cubs rosters on baseball-reference.com for older players who threw left-handed. 2) Google all returned matches from step (1)
  7. Dempster's been sporting a nice one, and Marquis had a beard in his last appearance in relief. I have one, and it's red. I'm considering procuring a full Ryan Dempster uniform.
  8. So Molina batted in a runner who wasn't even in the game yet when he hit the dinger? Hilar!
  9. Rotoworld, apparently. Seems it's just speculation.
  10. September 20, 1986. Cubs 1, Pirates 0. The only run came on a Ryne Sandberg solo shot that we missed because we were getting popcorn. http://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/CHN/CHN198609200.shtml
  11. Since his callup, Nelson Cruz is hitting .320/.417/.583 for an OPS of .999 in 103 ABs, with 6 HR and 23 RBI. Late bloomers can have success in the majors: see Ryan Ludwick. I'm not sure if Hoffpauir fits into that category, but it's possible.
  12. Len, thanks for posting. You and Bob do a great job! It's always a pleasure listening to you both. Keep up the good work.
  13. Didn't Lieber and someone have back to back 1 hitters around 98? Lieber and Kerry Wood, May 24 and 25, 2001. Lieber: 9 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 2 K. Time of game 1:48. Wood: 9 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 2 BB, 14 K. Time of game 1:57. And guess who broke up Wood's no-hit bid in the seventh with none out: Mark Loretta.
  14. Not sure if this counts, but I followed up last night's no-hitter with a one-hitter. If you know what I mean.
  15. Since June 1st: Pitcher A: 31 IP, 40 H, 30 R, 26 ER, 9 HR, 11 BB, 32 K. 7.55 ERA, 1.645 WHIP Pitcher B: 35 1/3 IP, 45 H, 25 R, 25 ER, 7 HR, 5 BB, 27 K. 6.37 ERA, 1.415 WHIP Pitcher A is Jose Ascanio. Pitcher B is Bob Howry. Ascanio isn't getting called up anytime soon. Since June 1st: Pitcher C: 31 2/3 IP, 17 H, 7 R, 7 ER, 1 HR, 11 BB, 30 K. 1.99 ERA, 0.884 WHIP. Pitcher C is Kevin Hart. Definitely a better choice than Ascanio.
  16. I must have missed the memo that said 13-5 is considered a "struggle". I wonder if you missed the memo that said in the past four weeks Zambrano has a 7.42 ERA and a 1.725 WHIP. Or maybe you got that memo but missed the memo that said a 7.42 ERA and a 1.725 WHIP is indicative of a "struggle."
  17. So if Fukudome's on the bench, what's the lineup? DeRosa in right, Fontentot/Cedeno platoon at 2nd? And what's the plan for next year? Hope Fukudome improves?
  18. So we want him to be a late inning, defensive replacement for Lee? Im thinking vice versa. No. Lee is not a bench player. Can Lee play right field? 8-)
  19. My guess is that because each of these three teams draws very well on the road. Therefore, it might make more financial sense to have each team play a smaller-market team on the road. But I really would have liked to have seen the Cubs play at Yankee Stadium in its final year, mostly since I live so close to it.
  20. As has been noted elsewhere, Millar and Payton (and Huff) did end up clearing waivers. In other news, Carrie Muskat has this nugget today: http://chicago.cubs.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20080814&content_id=3309964&vkey=news_chc&fext=.jsp&c_id=chc
  21. Call me crazy, but I like those things.
  22. His line is now .364 / .388 / .718 / 1.106 58% of his hits have been for extra bases. Extrapolating to 500 ABs, he'd be on a pace to hit 70 doubles. Dare I say... MICAH HOFFPAUIR
  23. I can imagine there were some obvious but good concessions tie-ins.
  24. Either the Cubs got really lucky or Marc Huley is not a good writer.
  25. Hart pitched the ninth for Iowa and got the win. Does Hart pitching in Iowa in relief mean anything? It seems that he's been pitching pretty well as a starter in Iowa, but (this year at least) when he's been called up as a reliever he hasn't pitched well at all.
