  1. Take away that "r" and that's quite a doozy of a name.
  2. I was following this one, as I've been a big fan of Sean's, I live about a mile from Yankee Stadium, and my roommate is a huge Yankees fan. Sean acquitted himself well and got out of some jams. Still pulling for him. Respect.
  3. Favorites: Pat Neshek K-Rod Paul Byrd, especially when he does the double windup Least favorite: Can't seem to think of many at the moment, but possibly Heath Bell
  4. Any reason why Pie and Hoffpauir didn't play? Regular rest?
  5. Boy, I really think they'll use the DH rather than let Marshall hit. :D
  6. He occasionally updates his blog on his website, Fukudome1.com. However, of course he writes in Japanese. Fortunately, Bleed Cubbie Blue has a Japanese member, dragonsfanatic, who gives a rough translation on the latest entry.
  7. That's awesome. Our team BA is 6. Which is why it's so surprising that we're scoring less than 1/3 of a run per game.
  8. There may not be a lot of hot prospects in the system at the moment, but OTOH, look who's at Iowa: Rich Hill Felix Pie Sean Marshall Matt Murton et al
  9. I was checking that out, and Wood's peripherals aren't so far from Marmol's. The big difference, of course, is the earned runs. However, I think over the long haul Wood should be fine.
  10. I haven't seen any corroboration on this yet. It's most likely a mixup of the Mateo situation, but considering Hendry's love of unnecessary bullpen shuffling, I wouldn't be surprised. That's what I'm thinking. Perhaps the "source" even was this thread.
  11. ESPN is reporting (on Fantasy MLB Wire) that Chad Fox refused an assignment and has been granted free agency. I haven't seen any corroboration on this yet.
  12. This article, linked to in the 4/7 thread, from the Des Moines Register and primarily about Holliman, mentions an anecdote of how Luis Figueroa came in to pitch in the 2nd game of the I-Cubs double-header. Looking at the box score, he appears to have fared pretty well, striking out 3 over 1.2 innings.
  13. So the moral is: We need more pitchers whose first names begin with "Car"
  14. All along Lou has said that he needs to see Wood pitch on two or three consecutive days and see how he reacts. Lou said yesterday that he'll start to pitch Wood on consecutive days within the next week or so. I think if Wood can do this, he'd be the favorite, and Marmol would be the fireman. Obviously, with how Howry has pitched so far, and that he normally gets off to a slow start, Marmol would be favored over Howry.
  15. Yep. He's pitched 1/3 of an inning this spring. Yes, and here's the box score: http://mlb.mlb.com/news/boxscore.jsp?gid=2008_02_29_sfnmlb_chnmlb_1
  16. Gammons was on SportsCenter reporting on the Cubs. He spent most of his time talking about how good Woody looked. He mentioned that Wood had batters including Lee shaking their heads as they left the box. Gammons also talked about Lou's idea to hit Fukudome 3rd and move Lee and Ramirez down to 4th/5th.
