  1. Today's List of Games That Supposedly Matter (but most likely won't) Arizona Diamondbacks at Dusty Baker's Reds 11:30 Davis (13-12, 4.25 in 2007) at Cueto (Major League Debut)* Colorado Rockies at St. Louis Cardinals 12noon Jimenez (4-4, 4.28 in 2007) at Thompson (8-6, 4.73 in 2007) Houston Astros at San Diego Padres 2:30 Chacon (5-4, 3.94 in 2007) at Wolf (9-6, 4.73 in 2007) Pittsburgh Pirates at Atlanta Braves 6pm Duke (3-8, 5.53 in 2007) at Hampton (138-101, 3.97 in career)** *I'm sure it will be lousy. **Hasn't pitched since '05. No national games today, but once again I'd like to remind everyone to check out the free preview of MLBEI! Also, yesterday somebody started a post with "I know this game's not on the list, but..." That's fine! These threads are for talking about all other games! Well, baseball games, anyways. Major League Baseball games. Major League Baseball games that the Cubs aren't already playing in.
  2. I guess, except when I go to Vegas in August. I know we always used to have these when I was just a lowly lurker, and nobody had started one Sunday, so I did, and I asked Laura if that was okay for me to do, and if I could continue to do so, and she said it was fine with her. I know there's not a lot of action in the threads so far, but if August and September shape up anything like last year, it could get pretty fun.
  3. Today's List of Games That Matter And/Or Are Nationally Televised Toronto Blue Jays vs. New York Yankees 6pm, ESPN2 Burnett (10-8, 3.75 in 2007) at Mussina (11-10, 5.15 in 2007) Arizona Diamondbacks vs. Dusty Baker's Reds 6pm Haren (15-9, 3.07 in 2007) at Arroyo (9-15, 4.23 in 2007) Pittsburgh Pirates vs. Atlanta Braves 6pm Gorzelanny (14-10, 3.88 in 2007) at Jurrjens (3-1, 4.70 in 2007) Colorado Rockies vs. St. Louis Cardinals 7pm Cook (8-7, 4.12 in 2007) at Wellemeyer (3-2, 3.11 in 2007) Houston Astros vs. San Diego Padres 9pm Wandy(!) at Mad Dog (347) Once again, I'd like to remind everyone to check out the free preview of MLBEI!
  4. Which was denied by everyone - including Lee. And was completely falsified if you watched the video and just read Young's lips. Oh. Well, I didn't know all that. /Cal
  5. Unsubstantiated rumor that he called D-Lee the n-word before the fight last year.
  6. When Kerry Wood hit Rickie Weeks yesterday, there were a lot of idiots around me cheering, and saying things like "they hit our second baseman, we hit theirs." Do these people not understand how unbelievably stupid that would be, to put a man on in a tied game in the ninth? Or are they just so enamored with Kerry Wood, they'd refuse to admit to themselves that he might have been a little wild.
  7. Ugh. Hopefully we can find something to take our minds off yesterday. Today's List of Games That Matter! Colorado Rockies vs. St Louis Cardinals 7pm Wells (7-17, 5.70 in 2007) at Lohse (9-12, 4.62 in 2007) Houston Astros vs. San Diego Padres 9pm Backe (3-1, 3.77 in 2007) at Young (Racist DeutschBank in 2007)* *probably still No national games (or National games) today, but once again I'd like to remind everyone to check out the free week of MLBEI. Of note, Pedro Martinez returns for the Mets, the Yankees play their final opening day in Yankee Stadium, Jon Garland pitches in his Angels debut, and the A's get to continue their "home" series with Boston a week later.
  8. Roast, I thought I saw you today (based on the picture you posted of yourself in uniform) but I wasn't entirely sure, and I didn't want to start yelling "Roast" and look like a moron. And then of course, there's the problem that I'm just the R-Train, and you're effin' ROAST, the internet legend, and you might not know who I am yet. If it was you I saw, you were taking down the gate around the statue unveiling and I believe I also witnessed you demostrating your 1-2 punch to one of your extremely tall co-workers.
  9. Gonna leave from my house around 9, get down there around 11.
  10. He said it would be fun. He didn't say it would be right.
  11. Yeah, I guess I'm this guy now... http://www.bbc.co.uk/liverpool/content/images/2007/10/08/southport_musical_fireworks_1_470x356.jpg Happy Opening Day, everybody! Well, that is, if you don't reside in Boston, Oakland, Atlanta, or DC. GAMES THAT MATTER AND/OR ARE NATIONALLY TELEVISED Toronto Blue Jays at New York Yankees 12noon, ESPN Halladay (16-7, 3.71 in 2007) at Wang (19-7, 3.70 in 2007) Arizona D-Bags at Dusty Baker's Reds 1pm Webb (18-10, 3.01 in 2007) at Harang (16-6, 3.73 in 2007) San Francisco Giants at Los Angeles Dodgers 3pm, ESPN Zito (11-13, 4.53 in 2007) at Penny (16-4, 3.03 in 2007) Colorado Rockies at St. Louis Cardinals 3pm Francis (17-9, 4.22 in 2007) at Wainwright (14-12, 3.70 in 2007) Los Angeles Angels (of Anaheim?) at Minnesota Twins 6pm, ESPN2 Weaver (13-7, 3.91 in 2007) at Hernandez (11-11, 4.93 in 2007) Pittsburgh Pirates at Atlanta Braves 6pm Snell (9-12, 3.76 in 2007) at Glavine (13-8, 4.45 in 2007) Houston Astros at San Diego Padres 9pm, ESPN2 Oswalt (14-7, 3.18 in 2007) at Peavy (19-6, 2.54 in 2007) Also of note, Johan Santana makes his Mets debut, the Nationals go to Philadelphia after sweeping a one-game home series, Steve Trachsel does NOT pitch Opening Day for the O's, and don't forget about the weeklong free preview of MLBEI!
  12. I believe Comcast is offering this as well, Channels 461-470 and 477-480.
  13. http://misterirrelevant.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/03/young2.jpg Yes. That's a Halliburton brief case for Dmitri. Contents unknown.
  14. True. There will be a ceremony on the field where he receives like a mini-version of his statue and then he'll throw out the first pitch. Do you know what time that starts? Also, what are they planning in regards to the 2007 Divison Championship?
  15. Cubs.com says Banks is also throwing out the first pitch and performing the seventh inning stretch.
  16. I know we did these last year, and I hope I'm not stepping on anybody's toes by doing it this year. I wanted to do it for the Red Sox/ A's games last week, but both times I set my alarm and both times I went back to sleep, so this is my first taste of real baseball for 2008! Every year on Opening Day's Eve (maybe just Opening Night? Nah, that's what ESPN wants us to call it) one very special game gets to kick off the season! This year it's... well, it's the Braves and the Nats, but I'm sure we'll have fun anyways! The Braves start the season with a stacked lineup that has many thinking they have a chance to contend with the Phils and Mets (and of those three, they'd be my choice, too), and the Nats start the season with a new hitter-friendly ballpark... and, well, uh, Manny Acta seems like a really smart guy, but that didn't help much last year. Opening Day Night Game 7:00pm Atlanta Braves vs. Washington Nationals Tim Hudson (16-10, 3.33 in 2007) at Odalis Perez (8-11, 5.57 in 2007) http://graphics8.nytimes.com/images/2008/03/29/sports/29nationals.1.600.jpg Oh, yeah, and this guy http://www.funfacts.com.au/images/george-w-bush.jpg throws out the first pitch. *Sigh* I love baseball.
  17. Actually, Roast already posted about this in the Stream of Consciousness thread.
  18. "Next Saturday's a long way off. I might be dead by then." That's great. :)
  19. Seriously? Yes, seriously. I'm still sick of Bon Jovi's "I Love This Town" from hearing it a million times during last year's postseason, and I actually love older U2, but they have other songs that I think would have fit better, and that I enjoy more. I would honestly have rather heard Kanye West, and that's saying something.
  20. GOT THEM WMDs http://www.hbo.com/thewire/img/90x94/characters/balt_pd/valcheck.jpg I hear the WMD is "the bomb."
  21. Looks like it's come down to Boys Are Back In Town vs. Takin' Care Of Business. I'm just glad Bon Jovi and U2 are eliminated.
  22. Who's throwing out the first pitch this year?
