  1. Seriously? I didn't get an e-mail... :(
  2. Anyone heard if they're gonna offer the secret nine-game plans again?
  3. You know, I still think the Cubs would have gone all the way last year if I hadn't been mysteriously screwed out of my Game 3 start.
  4. I don't think so. It's two of the three most popular teams in MLB, and the first game at the new Yankee Stadium, even if it is Spring Training.
  5. You could buy two tickets for 50 cents and sell them for 400 bucks.
  6. I'm cheering for the Sox for now. I'm just thinking about how awesome it would be if we beat them in the World Series.
  7. Meeks is a Sox fan and his kids go to private school and he was rude to my dad.
  8. September 16: WINNER!
  9. The Cubs don't play home night games? He may mean home weekend night games. Thank you, that is what I meant.
  10. I noticed today that StubHub has our potential home World Series games all scheduled for 1pm. I know that the Cubs can't play home night games, but I thought that was only for the regular season. I can't imagine there would seriously be day games in the World Series.
  11. Unfortunately, I start work at 3 today, at a job where there's no TV, radio, or internet, and if I get caught looking at my cell phone on the floor I could be fired.
  12. We only had four starters last year so I'd assume erik, haubrich and Fred would be in with one of the three with five wins as well. Well, let's keep in mind that when I started my first game thread, we were tied for first place after having lost two in a row to the Marlins, and the Cubs then proceeded to win the final game of the series before going on to sweep the Brewers at Wrigley North. Clearly this would not have happened if someone else was starting the threads.
  13. I hope my boss has her request off form bin well-stocked, because I'm taking over that [expletive] today.
  14. I'm glad my name isn't a location.
  15. I can only imagine how scared Lance Berkman must be.
  16. Stupid Sunday train schedule on holidays. :banghead: I was planning on taking a train at like 11:03 out of Matteson, but then I remembered it's Labor Day (yes, I actually am the kind of guy that would forget it's a holiday, but in my defense I work really odd days/times) so now it looks like I have to wait until 11:55, effectively blowing my chance of getting to the park before it opens. I love getting there early, walking up the ramps, and drinking a beer from that balcony in the 400 level, and watching all the people arrive, but, whatever. Really good ticket today. If anybody hears a "sli-ding-glass-door" chant, there's a very good chance it's me. And depending on how drunk I am, I might make some thunder and lightning noises during Berkman's AB's.
  17. Pat Hughes called my store one time to talk to a manager about God-knows-what, and he started off with, "Hello, Rob, Pat Hughes calling to speak with [name of manager here]," and his tone of voice, and his manner of speaking, and, whatever, he sounded EXACTLY like he did on the radio. That's probably the closest I've ever come to meeting someone famous, and, sadly, the most exciting thing that's ever happened to me at work.
  18. http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=w9aYrHzEW-w
  19. Can somebody tell me if the underground Lake and State L station is open again yet? I know a few weeks ago it was closed for construction. If not, it's just like one block to the above-ground station, correct? I don't really go downtown that often, but I'll be there tomorrow.
  20. If the Cubs clinch the playoffs while they still have a chance to clinch the division, I hope they don't celebrate at all, and just keep playing to win as much as they can.
  21. I believe I heard on SportsCenter that this was the first time the Cubs won both games of a double-header by at least 8 runs since 1908.
  22. Karstens (first appearance in '08, I'm sure it will be lousy) @ Marquis (6-6)
  23. Hey, Chicago, what do you say? The Cubs are gonna sweep today! Harden (5-2) at Bush (5-8)
  24. I just love alliteration. Dempster (11-4) at Parra (9-3)
  25. Nothing at all, really. I was sitting in the front row of our section, and they were a few rows back, and I could hear the one guy telling his friend that I looked familiar, and then a few innings later, he was like, "You know who that is? That's Bartman." They didn't say anything to me, though, and I was there with three of my friends while it was just two of them, so I wasn't too concerned.
