  1. he's not the answer, no matter how badly people want him to be That maybe, but neither is Huet. I suspect you might see the Hawks make a play for a goalie at the deadline. I am still high on Niemi, but he is playing way too much like Huet right now.
  2. MidoreX; A couple of answers to the questions in your story: 1. The Wheeler you mention, is I believe Brian Wheeler. 2. The trade as I've seen it through searching the internet was Scottie Pippen for Shawn Kemp, Ricky Pierce, and the teams swapping of first rd picks. At the time of the deal I was only 13, and was still playing Dixie Youth Baseball. My team was still in the all-star tournament, so I had no idea this deal going on. But looking back at the trade without knowing what we know now, a Kemp for Pippen deal would have been interesting to say the least. To have a 1-2 punch of Jordan (when he unretire) and Kemp would have been tantalizing to say the least. Would the Bulls still have the dynasty (much less the 72 win season) with Kemp instead of Pippe? Prolly not, but it would have interesting to see how Jordan and Kemp would have existed. With that said, I don't know why the Sonics backed out of that deal, to be honest. They were getting the better player, and sometimes you have to ignore your fan base and trade the "franchise" player in order to take a step forward. Who knows how far Payton/Pippen duo would have gone. Ultimately, I'm glad the deal got recinded.
  3. Yeah, and look who was picked right after Barker. Besides there are alot of busts in the draft, so for the Hawks to get one of more useful players out of the draft is somewhat surprising.
  4. I really like the prospect the Hawks got back.#3 prospects in the Wild org according to hockeysfuture. Not a bad deal. On another Hawk site they've compared him to Duncan Keith. I don't know about that, but if he did turn into the next DK, I would be estatic.
  5. It'd be cool if Dwight wouldn't taunt an injured player.
  6. Yeah, it's not like they're missing Rose or Noah or anything. They're certainly not critical parts of this team. That doesn't excuse the lack of effort. They're just not a very good team. Lack of effort has little to do with the end result of a game like this. That maybe, Orlando the better team, I know this, but with or without Rose/Noah there is no excuse for sloppy ball. Hinrich/Salmons/Deng/Gibson/Miller should have made this game somewhat respectable (under 20 points). It seem to me they just didn't want to be out there. I'm sorry that kind of attitude cannot be condone.

  8. I know the Magic are good, but not this good, so I am glad the Bulls showed up tonight.
  9. 2 words: Drunken stupor.
  10. Reinsdorf has also said he would pay the luxury tax for guys who clearly can put the team over the top. So maybe...
  11. :D Niemi.
  12. WTH are the Thrasher doing? I heard earlier that they had traded him for Lehtonen. http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=309569 I think Turco will be a separate trade.
  13. WTH are the Thrasher doing?
  14. [-X I thought it was funny.
  15. None of this matters as I believe the Hawks are extremely high on Niemi and they really want him to be the #1. And the Hawks are extremely high on Niemi and they want him to be the #1. So all this talk for a goalie, I really doubt the Hawks will acquire one. If anything, they officially make Niemi the #1 with Huet backing him up.
  16. If Thomas was a FA then I would be at least open to the possibility, but his contract is a no-go for me unless Boston took Huet back, which they won't. Now if Cam Ward---I know he's injured---was available that's a different story, but Thomas......thx but not thx. However, you can't count on ward to be healthy or good i think ward's contract is worse than huet's Cam Ward is good and is worthy of his contract. His problem is healthy, not ability. Still, I doubt the Hawks will trade for a goalie, seeing as Boston has officially pulled Thomas off the market. So this back and fourth is kinda moot, now.
  17. I wish I had your confidence in the farm system, but I don't. They have about five legitimate prospect who will be NHL players (Beach, Aliu, Olsen, LaLonde, and Kruger) and the rest are, IMO, hit or miss prospects. So I wouldn't necessarily call that a "stacked and ridiculously deep" farm system. So I am of the opinion you can't have enough prospects. Agree on the second point, but I like Niemi's potential moreso then Thomas, and prefer to land a guy like Niedermeyer over a guy like Thomas. Now if you suggest the Hawks to acquire a guy like Roloson, even tho he is older, then I would be interested in that deal. He would be cheaper to acquire via players, and he only has one more year left on his deal. Make Niemi the #1, should he earned it, acquire Roloson to be backup, and send Huet to the minors, and I am happy.

  19. And acquiring Tim Thomas would end an chance of re-sign Niemi, and leave the Hawks with a stupid obstacle of having to trade either one bad contract (Huet) or the other (Thomas) with no goalie (no Fallon is not the answer, at least not right now)for the future. I much rather ta ke your proposal for Tim Thomas (Barker/Versteeg and add a decent prospect) and see if Anaheim would take a similar package for Scott Niedermeyer. At least Neidermeyer would be worth the package, and the Hawks could then trade Niedermeyer in the offseason to ease the cap situation, plus add a couple of prospects in the system.
  20. i don't think you have the right to call someone else's post laughable when you post something like that 42 24 11 4 2.29 93 957 864 .903 4 38 25 .658 35 13 15 7 2.52 85 999 914 .915 4 28 19 .679 Sorry if I don't think Tim ThomaI s is enough of an upgrade to sacrifice three pretty good young players for. I might understand one of the three plus a prospect but anything higher then that and you are wasting assets.
  21. That and him staying off the love weed.
  22. Gawd, I want to beat the Canadians so bad.......I know it won't happen, but man it would be something. Miller would have to steal it...could happen. I dont see USA even medaling, though Sweden has not played well internationally recently. The Czechs always play above their heads at the olympics I know, and guys like Kane, Kessel, Malone and Parise would have to be their best to even stay in the game.

  24. I never said he was a bad player, and I never said he didn't have "untapped potential", I'm just saying that in Minnesota he will be the 2nd option, at best, behind Rice. I'm not convinced that Harvin is anything more then the Vikings version of Devin Hester. He should fade out Berrian, but the Vikes still have Pianscoe who get his fair share of catches. With Favre I do not know if Harvin will break the 1000 yard barrier as a WR(I said I don't know if he will, not that he doesn't have the ability), at least without giving up his KR duties. And if Favre does retire, hahahaha, then there is a better then 60% chance that Harvin won't break that barrier, especially with either Sage or Jackson as QB. Now if you eventually land McNabb, then everything changes.
  25. I did not sat Harvin isn't a good player, I'm just saying his value isn't a point where you can say what you would or would not trade for him. As long as Favre is in Minnesota, Harvin is likely a 3rd/4th option in offense behind Peterson, Rice, and Pianscoe, which limits Harvin potential.
