  1. Angelos............is a dang extortionist, IMO. Under the guise of being upset about Jones "letting the dog out" so to speak, is asking for "compensation" in the deal. Nevermind, according to Rosenthal, the O's would be getting 5 PLAYERS, but nah....Angelos wants a 6th player. The M's shoudl just tell Angelos to bugger off, and move on. Dealing with Angelos isn't worth the headache.
  2. Why are the M's pissed and the O's upset? We live in an age of technology so great that we can see games over the internet. We have computers in cars. Internet phones, PDAs, laptops, blah, blah, blah. Not to mention we in a generation that wants things down NOW, and not tomorrow. So unless a team or player is a master of deception and can hold certain information until the time is right for it to be released, nobody should be "upset" about info being leaked. It was going to happen sooner or later. So either get the "trade" done before the info is leaked, or prepare to have to answer questions about a rumor. Being upset about "leaked" information just shows your naiveness (if that is even a word).
  3. PA has MacPhail looking like a clown, right now.
  4. It's not a surprise the O's are interested in Jason Marquis for a simple reason: After that buttwhooping they took at the hands of the Rangers(30-3 on August 22), the O's went on to lose games by the scores of 11-3, 15-8, 17-2, 18-6, 12-0, 11-10, 10-4, among standard scores of like 9-4, 7-2. So obviously, the O's are looking for guys who can eat up innings, unlike the guys they had last yr. They know Marquis has shown he can eat up innings in blowout losses. Hence the interests. If the Cubs can't pawned Marquis off in the Roberts deal, I would hope the Cubs would be interested in a Marquis for J. Walker deal.
  5. Looking at their numbers (both 2007 and their 3 yr splits) Lofton and Figgins are virtually the same player. Neither hits lefties particularly well. Both do hit righties at a very good rate. I think the reason why there have been interests from the Cubs for Figgins....(drum roll) it's because Chone is a switch-hitter. (< roll eyes) Meaning he wouldn't nec. need a platoon partner (looking at his stats, it says otherwise), but Lofton would clearly need a RH platoon partner, seeing as he can't hit lefties. So if you sign Lofton, you would have to trade for RH platoon partner.
  6. UNREAL http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20080128&content_id=2357816&vkey=hotstove2007&fext=.jsp I guess we all know that MacPhail learn his "GM's skills" from watching the old "Abbott and Costello: Who's on first" routine.
