  1. My personal opinion on the thing is that he wants to keep the Yankees in the news. Right now, Isaiah is the big headline. Second on the list of stories is probably how the Mets are climbing in the standings. The Steinbrenners need to say things like this whether they believe it or not to get people talking about the Yanks. Who even knows if he really believes what he says.
  2. Hershiser, Sut, and what's his name. No Miller and Morgan.
  3. Doesn't look like Demps has a great breaking ball so far today.
  4. I agree. Giambi seems to be able to field first a lot better this year than in recent years. Thomas wants a shot at the playoffs and the Yankees would give him that plus I think that he'd like to be somewhere that he can be in the spotlight. I know that money will be the leading factor, but I would also think that he'd like a chance to stick it to the Jays. Staying in the AL East would allow this.

  6. I always thought D-Lee was good, but it took 2005 for me to realize that he was even better than I thought. April 2008 isn't enough for him to jump up another step into A-Rod's level in my books yet. Consistency and doing it for an extended period of time is what it takes for me.
  7. With Soriano getting hurt hopping, imagine the season-ender that a catch like Fukudome's would have caused.
  8. Well, first inning we got a single, 2nd was a double, 3rd was a triple, so it would almost be a sure thing that we'll hit a 4 base hit in the 4th.
  9. 2 very nice Jacque Jones looking ab's for Patterson. It was like deja vu seeing a guy in the lh batter's box swinging at dirt balls.
  10. Wow, Buccos helping the Cubs out there. Rivas doing his best Cincinnati Reds impression.
  11. Already looks like more of the same from Richy boy.
  12. I think Hill could use the offense more than the defense, but that's just me. If that was the thinking behind this, they should have Derosa playing 2nd and Ward should be in the outfield, then.
  13. Good to see an inferior cf out there with a starter who could use all of the defense that he can get.
  14. I agree, all the balls on the field after that home run was dumb, but Brennamen is an idiot. He says that the Cubs won't win the division because they're the Cubs. Then in the next sentence he says how stupid people are to buy into billy goat curses. Why won't the Cubs win because they are the Cubs then, Marty? It sounds like HE is the moron who really believes in curses. I am happy to say that I don't have to listen to this moron too frequently. He is clearly jealous that the Cubs are so popular and are in a position to possibly have great success this year. Another thing, this all sounds like sour grapes. His beloved Reds finally did one good thing in those first 2 games with a meaningless home run and throwing 15 balls on the field kind of mocked their performance to some extent. Brennaman just wanted to whine and moan about something because his team couldn't win. Boo hoo, sorry for you, Marty. It's just one game, grow up!
  15. Dunn seems to be the only one who has been able to stay patient even after Dusty's arrived. I don't know if it is me, but it seems that even Griffey has lost patience at the plate.
  16. Looks like Dusty hasn't completely fine tuned his "give up" lineup yet. All he needs to do is replace Griffey with Hatteberg or something and then it looks good. Remember Dusty forfeit lineups often times lead to inexplicable offensive outbursts. And prolonged usage of Todd Hollandsworth's, Neifi's, and the Jose Macias' of the world. Often these outbursts can be more crippling to a Dusty team in the long-term than if they fail.
  17. You would think with Corey's recent struggles at the top of the lineup, Dusty would move him to the 3 hole to try to get him started. That would be a logical move that has worked in the past...
  18. Nice to see Phillips out, but I wish Corey could be in there for one last round of shame at Wrigley today. Would have been fun to see him go 0 for Double Digits in Chicago.
  19. So, as of right now, no one has any idea as to the severity of Soriano's injury beyond that it is DL-worthy?
  20. Have any of the reports said how long they expect Sori to be out? Is this going to be the 15 day minimum or will this be a lot longer? I have searched written reports and can find nothing.
  21. I'm not sure how many times I've said it in my life, but I'll say it again, Reed Johnson is a great bench/sub, but once he plays everday, he becomes a liability.
  22. well, i guess that we have 2 innings to score 5 runs off of whoever else comes in to pitch.
  23. Okay, correct me. If a player outperforms his capability, it's far more likely he'll return to his average than suddenly become terrible to even it out. And seriously, it's three starts. Well, this is an unlikely parade of crap, then. I don't care if it's only been three starts. If you're the #2 pitcher for a presumed division champion, it's unacceptable to fail to complete five innings in three successive starts. At least that's what I think. I might be wrong. Maybe if he failed to complete six innings, that'd be one thing, but to not yet escape the fifth? so, if he is backed up a start so that he can be slotted in behind dempster would you be ok with it? then he'd be the "#3" starter
  24. victorino with 2 pretty shaky looking plays out there, but yet he still catches them both.
  25. What are you talking about? He's a .500 pitcher. He had an outstanding year last year, now he's making up for it with terrible play. wins and losses do not a good pitcher make True but he has had an average career (ERA+ of 102), even if he has had to face stiffer competition in the past in the AL East. he has looked bad, but i'd give him a little more time. everyone is starting to sound like lou around here.
