The Cubs are 12-9 in one run ballgames this year. So they've played in 21 total game that were decided by one run. That's most in the majors. We've joked about how there seems like there's never an easy win this year. There really hasn't been.

Today is fedora day. Check out all the people behind home plate wearing them. I wouldn't mind the fedora thing so much if the world stopped calling those hats fedoras and instead called them trilbys which is WHAT THEY ARE.

This part. Tomas has a lofty AVG that's likely being propped up by a .400+ BABIP. He's not that good of a hitter, only has 1 HR to his credit, and the only way they tie the game on a hit is a double. If he singles and the run scores, you still have to get past Trumbo who is not a difficult out. Potentially dangerous? Sure. But he's not Paul Goldschmidt.

Seeing this though makes it a lot easier to understand why some athletes who can't manage their money properly go broke really quick.

Eh, Goldschmidt is arguably the best hitter in baseball. I'd have rather tried to get Tomas and, if Tomas get a hit, Trumbo rather than pitch to Goldschmidt who should be expected to do exactly what he did.
