  1. As someone already said, even as a DH he still can't avoid getting injured. I don't dig that. At least not at the price he'd likely command. I'd love to have him otherwise but he's not gonna be cheap, I think that's money that could be better used elsewhere, such as resigning Dempster and Wood and perhaps finding a good replacement for Howry (even though any reliever is better than him at this point). Otherwise the only move I'd like to see is an attempt to trade Ted Lilly. His salary is getting bumped up to $12 mil this year so it may be difficult to get much in return, but it'd be nice to clear some money off the books for other expenses, maybe try and get a prospect 1B to replace Lee in a couple years (I have a minor league baseball man-crush on Beau Mills, though that won't happen). I don't know, just throwing out the idea. Otherwise, I think we should stay clear of Bradley. Great player, amazing talent, horrible horrible injury history at what will likely be a big cost
  2. I was browsing through the Baseball History thread and saw a pic of Mantle and Oh, and I got nostalgic and re-looked up The Mick's stats... I never realized that despite being an incredible power hitter with 500+ HR's, he only eclipsed 100RBI in a season 4 times in his career. When I saw that I was kind of shocked, I never realized that
  3. I got Cutler, but I got him in the 7th round, 2 rounds after I drafted Mark Bulger with high hopes of him returning to form. That's paid off in dividends! I could've gotten McNabb instead
  4. It's not gonna matter when they both melt down and the Marlins take it in the last game of the season. You heard it here first folks, I made a bold prediction that will make me look like a genius if it pays off. If it doesn't then it's all Jerry Manuel's fault
  5. Maybe this cutting sensation will make him come back with the ability to throw an unhittable cutter. Kind of like how getting struck by lightning gives you the ability to shoot lightning through your fingers. It's true because I saw it in a video game. It made peoples heads explode, just like Ben Sheet's new unhittable cutter will. I don't know why I just said all that
  6. Well, if they were smart, they'd cut Corey Patterson, move Bruce back to center, and convert Owings a RF'er. I'm sure he'd have a strong enough arm to play there.
  7. Unreal. Amazing game. Kudos to you, Big Z. Throw another one next week
  8. Wait... did Owings give up pitching this year already to focus on hitting? I'm completely out of the loop on this, I had no idea he was even traded
  9. They're gonna trade for Brett Myers and sign Rafael Furcal? Don't forget Lugo for backup and Dukes to replace Cameron
  10. I have been told by the local baseball card shop owner that he frequents his store every once and a while. Perhaps I'll catch him there by chance some day and I'll ask him why he decided to start sucking after teasing us with good pitching for the first few weeks of the season. Kidding. I wish him the best, in all seriousness. And I really do hope I see him so I can thank him for a job well done (even if it was for those first few weeks)
  11. what happened between 2000-2005? Did he give up baseball or something and come back? His numbers in the minors were solid, I'm surprised he never got many chances in the majors
  12. It's not like Elijah Dukes was Pujols incarnate. He's was lucky to even get peanuts with the situation Dukes put himself in
  13. I will try to have it posted later tonight, but is it really that hard to go back through this thread and find out? That's what I'd be doing anyway..... :-" I just noticed you had done it in the past, I thought maybe you kept an excel sheet or something updated for reference :-))
  14. Can I see who all is currently on my team and brinoch's? Or can I only request to see who is on mine?
  15. Well, this is the 2nd time this year I've brought up a dark horse ROTY candidate for consideration and they went on to perform like crap their next outing.
  16. Well, I'm not sure if this is stupid or not because I don't follow news much so maybe he knows something I don't. Someone in the other division of my league drafted Philip Rivers (7th round) and Jake Delhomme (11th round). Both have the same bye week. Instead of trying to trade his backup QB for a different backup QB, he opted to drop Philip Rivers in favor of Kurt Warner. I understand maybe dropping your backup for different QB of similar ability, but wouldn't it have made more sense to drop Delhomme for Warner? Or am I just stupid
  17. It's injuries like this that make me a believe that sports teams should put punching bags in the corridor near the dugout entrance. Don't punch the wall. Don't break the bat on a wall. Don't punch the cooler. Punch this bag that is made for punching. I also think they should set up punching bags at golf courses, bowling alleys, and other frustrating leisure time activity centers
  18. Didn't know about that. Sucks for the White Sox. Oh yeah, the ROTY. Is it out of line to think that Evan Longoria shouldn't win if Armando Galarraga continues to be as impressive a pitcher as he's been this year for the rest of the season?
  19. I really hope Lincecum gets it. Webb has been great, but sporadic all year. He'll go on dominating stretches and then suck for a few starts, and then dominate again. Lincecum has been pretty good all year long and has a remarkable W-L record playing for one of the worst teams in the world. Lincecum is incredible. I don't think Morneau will sniff the MVP. I think the voters will still be reeling from the feel good, media love-fest story that is Josh Hamilton. I think he'll steal votes away from Morneau. Quentin should probably be the front runner though, IMO. He's been ridiculous all year. Although I'm pulling for an Indians miracle. If that happens, Grady Sizemore should be considered. But if all goes as it has been going, Quentin, A-Rod, Hamilton are my guesses for top 3 vote getters. Pujols has been ungodly this year and he easily deserves it, IMO. If they go with a contender, though, I would think Braun would get serious consideration. If the MArlins make a push, Hanley could get some votes. Otherwise, I would imagine it would be Pujols, Utley, Berkman, and Holliday getting most of the votes.
  20. Dolphins don't play during the summer having lived in florida in september and october, i can assure you that most of the time, those months are not much more pleasant for outdoor activities than august. Beat me to the punch. I lived in the Tampa area for 15 years of my life, and it only gets cold from mid-late November through early-mid February. It's hot the rest of the time. And lately, it's been warm during winter as well. Last December the temps were mid-80's to low 90's And that's in the middle of Florida. South Florida, on the other hand, probably hovers between hot and scorching hot, 10 1/2-11 months out of the year.
  21. Fans have no problem going there for Dolphins games. The heat is a non issue. It's their allegiance to their team that's the issue. They don't give a crap about baseball. They need to move them out of Florida to a place where people actually care about baseball and who aren't one wrecked car into a donut shop away from being permanently booked in a nursing home
  22. I'd love to see someone hit a no doubter walkoff against Valverde and immediately mimic his celebratory theatrics before leaving the batters box
