  1. What did he have, 5 or 6 no hitters? 7 no-no's. Forgot to add that. When you think of Nolan Ryan you think of one of the most dominating pitchers of all time, and it's a shock to see that he's never had a Cy Young award.
  2. Just worried that we'd be paying so much extra for that speed? 9 SB against those "arms" the Padres catchers had this year... jeebus. He was 19-2 against everyone else, which shouldn't be ignored. At the same time, I don't think anyone will confuse Holliday's smart baserunning with speed. Exactly. Albert Pujols stole 16 bases in 2005 despite battling his plantar fasciitis (which I still don't think he has or ever had). I'll take a guy who steals 25-30 bases and gets caught 2 times over a guy who steals 50 and gets caught 20-25 times. Especially if that guy can hit .300 and have 20+HR and a .375+ OBP
  3. I think you may be overstating Wood's (or any player's) affect off the baseball field on the team's performance. What teams did you play for in the majors? "Wade" = Wade Boggs. Or it could be Wade Miller, so the answer could very well be "Not many"
  4. Philly is a fine city. A passionate city, but a fine one. It's a good beer town. Philly is a pit, but Tampa is the much douchier city. tampa does suck, but downtown st. pete is actually pretty cool...nothing remarkable...but much better than tampa...if we were allowed to have guns on our cars i would have already racked up about 5000 kills in tampa alone I hate the Tampa area. Grew up there, and hate it. Not necessarily for the things it offers. It really offers a lot to do. But the people... my God the people I just wanna stab in the face with a rusty screwdriver. Some of the worst drivers on earth. Growing up my Dad would always curse and swear in the car and always talk about wanting to move and I would always scoff and be like "Whatever Dad, stop overreacting" and then when I got my license... well let's just say I completely knew what he was talking about. Such a frustrating area to drive in. Ybor city is a cool place to party, but the people there are douche bags. If you want to go look at a bunch of roided up freaks with unbuttoned shirts and enough hair gel to make a chemical weapon, Ybor is the place to be
  5. If they do go after Hermida, how much extra would it take to get say... Logan Morrison in the deal? Are they high on him or is he projected as sort of a Hoffpauir type guy
  6. I agree, but I really really really don't want to see Wood go. Even though he's been injured 75% of his 10 year career on the Cubs it seems, he's arguably still the face of this franchise. I'd hate to see it on another team, particularly in the NL. Even more particularly in the Central
  7. They are young. Everything about them is young. Their players are young, their management is young, their front office is young, their promotions are geared towards youngsters. Young young young. If anything Eric Young might be their next team President. Young. Kind of a funny word when you say it in your head as many times as I wrote it right here.
  8. looks can be deceiving...he's a douche. He does have his own Ryan Braun Affliction t-shirt. And he wears it. That's like the band wearing their own t-shirts on stage.
  9. Do we not have a rule about bumping old threads? I am well aware of that post. I wasn't trying to start a witch hunt against you, I was just trying to be funny. As far as bumping old threads, there's a rule against it if someone bumps it to add something like "Ha!" or "Bump" but I would think if you add the video your original post referenced since it hadn't been filmed yet it'd be kosher. But I'm not in charge so who knows what would actually be done.
  10. Now that could be interesting. Now I kind of want Derrek Lee to go.
  11. Rotoworlds take on the Roberts/Ibanez thing...
  12. 1) Something about this has already been posted 2) It was also titled with "In case you don't have a reason to hate Ryan Braun" 3) You posted it Aside form that, that entire video was absolutely horrifying. Worst acting, worst concept worst filming, worst promotion, worst everything. That does not make me want a Remington trimmer. I don't know how much they spent on that promotion, but it's absolutely terrible. They should get their money back
  13. My stupid brother wants to resign Prior. I think it's mainly because I bought him a Mark Prior autographed jersey a couple years ago and now he doesn't play for the Cubs so he wants it to be worth something again. He also said that DeRosa sucks and we should get a replacement him, so yeah. He's a buffoon
  14. Why would the players union intervene if by chance both sides did want this to happen and it was mutual? I don't know the specifics of the union and what not. What do they stand to lose if they amicably split with a respectable buyout?
  15. Sure would be nice if Len made another random appearance and could give us some insight into the potential of this situation. I personally like the Len and Bob team as well. They work well together.
  16. Yowzers. Drunky McDrunkenstein i don't think you know how decimals work or alcohol Or sarcasm... at least for you two
  17. Yowzers. Drunky McDrunkenstein
  18. But can J.D. Drew play the leadoff position? Tee hee
  19. If they've soured on him, then he shouldn't cost Marmol and sounds like he'd be pretty easily had
  20. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3652164 And getting your drink on, playa
  21. Nolan Ryan... 324 wins 5714 K's 3.19 ERA 6 times with 300+ K's........ Zero Cy Young Awards
  22. I like that they're making another baseball movie. I like it even more that it's going to be about sabremetrics and thus exposing the public to more than just AVG, HR, and RBI. But Moneyball? That's a bit strange. I can't imagine it being very thrilling, but who knows. It's got Brad Pitt in it and he's a BA, so whatever. I'll see it regardless
  23. I'm no genius... but I'm pretty sure Santana still has 5 years left on his contract not one
  24. I know he's an absolutely monster pitcher and we're lucky to have him for good money in 2009... but has anyone considered shopping Harden to the Padres? As great as it would be to have both Harden and Peavy, maybe it would be a quick path to getting Peavy if we give up Harden. After all, we only officially have him for one more year, and his injury history is very sketchy, so who knows? Perhaps starting with Harden will easily get us to the table and will also prevent us from having to give up too many prospects as well. I'm not necessarily condoning this, just throwing it out there
