  1. I feel like this is the movie Cobra where I'm Cobra and you're all that guy I impale on a hook at the end of the movie
  2. OMJesus. I really wish a lot of bad mojo on the Red Sox. I hate them so much (well, their fans anyways)
  3. Would Hoffpauir have any trade value. He has good minor league numbers, hit well at the major league level, and is cheap. His only pratfall is his age. I'm not saying he's a centerpiece, but could he be a good addition to whatever package we could offer, or would they just look at him as a throw in?
  4. source article: http://www3.signonsandiego.com/stories/2008/oct/14/padres-peavy1420020/?padres Hmmmm. I like the sound of that. +1. Who would it take though?
  5. You could... except you can't, because he's never had any serious injuries or shown signs of injury. Some pitchers are freaks of nature and can throw 100+ pitches 90% of the year. Sabathia has been doing it for years in Cleveland. Milwaukee really wasn't doing anything different that wasn't already happening in Cleveland, so the whole "The Brewers are ruining his future" argument is stupid. He's a freak.
  6. I've got an autographed baseball from him. My parents used to run an athletic club in Bradenton, FL and he lived there for a while and had a membership at their gym. Met him a couple times. Extremely nice man, always liked him as a Cub. This is sad news. RIP
  7. I feel like I'm Gabriel Cash and you're all Raymond Tango
  8. It was more a case of the writers hated Ted Williams. Indeed. Fans today don't really understand that Williams was basically the Barry Bonds of his day. Nearly universally hated. Wow, I never knew that. Why was he so hated? Was he rude to the media or was he kind of a dirty player?
  9. This topic of conversation has been going on for the past couple of months now. I'm pretty sure there's a been several threads about it but I can't find them. I think most people are in the "re-sign him" camp, as am I. He may command a lot on the open market, but I think he has strong ties to the Cubs and will give them a major hometown discount compared to what will be thrown at him
  10. How much value are people putting into Jayson Werth right now? The dude crushed lefties, played in a hitters park, and is in a contract year, so how much of that production is legit or "contract year" production? RHP: 263AB 8HR 31RBI .255/.360/.407/.767 LHP: 155AB 16HR 36RBI .303/.368/.652/1.020
  11. Was thew 1941 MVP award voting a case of Dimaggio being on the better team than Williams? It must suck something fierce when you put up an OPS+ of 235 and hit over .400 and lose to someone else. Not saying Dimagigo's season wasn't good, but Williams dwarfed him in comparison and still came in second. And it's not like Boston sucked, they came in 2nd place that year.
  12. He could be a good platoon center fielder for Dusty's son's team
  13. I'm not saying he's wrong to say what he said, clearly he's a marked man... But he brings it on himself by being one of the worst starting pitchers in the entire major leagues. And a lot of that hinges on his salary. If he were making say... $2 million a year, big deal. But he's not, he's getting paid to put up monster numbers. And he is... on the opposite end of the spectrum
  14. It was Matt Kemp. Frame job
  15. 20-25 starts from Rich Harden @ $7 million > 32 starts from Carlos Zambrano at $17.75 million Also keep in mind the whole "Contract Year" myth/legend
  16. For an offensive 2B, a .234/.342/.398 line with a 93 OPS+ isn't exactly enticing. He hasn't lived up to his hype yet. Weeks is going 30-30 next year... and the year after... and after... and after... until he dies. He'll be going 30-30 when he's 83 and playing Bingo.
  17. i havent been mean to anyone. Clearly you wronged this man and need to apologize for all the inadequacies in his life that you have caused by telling him that leadoff is not a position Oh?? Awesome.
  18. Oh goodie, I was hoping someone would provoke Modzilla out of his cave. I love seeing that avatar. Gee Meph, you've been back what a week and a half and you're already making people hate you again? Hahaha
  19. DeRosa was one of the best 2B in the league last year. Utley was clearly the best, but you could make a case that DeRosa was the 2nd or 3rd best. If DeRosa is capable of repeating his performance this year, the Cubs don't need a 2B.
  20. Not really. His career minor league line was 270 .349 .501 850 I think he was referring to his home run potential, which Ludwick certaintly had plenty of in the minors.
  21. This picture actually sums up how I feel precisely, but it's a war pic so someone thinks it's too insensitive I'll take it down... http://www.rjgeib.com/blog/media/rage-frustration.jpg
  22. 3 Words... Tecmo. Bowl. Tournament.
  23. Rube Baker? I've never had a regular girlfriend like you, but I did get kicked in the balls once by a mule. Now, I thought I would be hurting for the rest of my life. But you know what happened the very next week? My momma died. Hell, after that, I didn't care no more about my balls hurtin'. You see what I'm gettin' at?
  24. The whole "Erra" thing that has already been mentioned was obnoxious enough, but last night it was like torture
  25. Rich Harden complete game... 1 hit... Manny Ramirez Solo home run... 14 strike outs... Cubs lose 1-0 At least, that would be typical of the Cubs to do
