  1. Does Chamberlain still do the fist pump? I know he did it out of the bullpen when he'd be in tough situations, but does he still do it when he strikes someone out in the first inning?
  2. Howard going on a hot streak wouldn't help your cause as 90% of the field has him. Yeah, just noticed Rocket has him too. Okie dokie, desperate times call for some desperate measures. Time to try and run away with this and use up my last first half transaction. Drop Carlos Lee Add Evan Longoria Please no one get a serious injury... Please no one get a serious injury... Please no one get a serious injury...
  3. Let's platoon them as 5th starter and start them against predominantly lefty or righty lineups! Actually, that's stupid. Only a stupid manager on a stupid team would do something stupid like that
  4. Not really. http://www.hardballtimes.com/thtstats/main/index.php?view=fielding&linesToDisplay=50&orderBy=zone_rating&direction=DESC&qual_filter=1&season_filter[]=2008&league_filter[]=2&pos_filter[]=7&Submit=Submit Link doesn't work, but you could imagine what it would be like if it did. Adam Dunn is 3rd on that list. My dead grandpa can play defense better than Adam Dunn. But Ryan Braun can't
  5. No wonder Cubs players siad they wouldn't mind a new stadium after playing in Milwaukee against Houston. That clubhouse would seem to be a bit claustrophobic when the rest of the team and reporters are in there
  6. YOU'RE DARN RIGHT THERE'S GONNA BE A PROTEST!
  7. Aubrey Huff's home run off Joba last night was awesome. He was doing the Joba fist pump while running around the bases. It was only like the first inning. I'm really surprised he didn't get plunked. Braun is somewhat of a dick, though, who does stuff like that to spite the other team.
  8. He actually made a really good catch last night, too, so they must've been talking in general about his occasional sloppy glovework. I've noticed that a lot of his errors tend come on plays that he probably would've routinely made errors on playing 2nd base. Basically balls hit out to LF that are on the ground and not in the air. Either that or I just missed all of the fly ball errors he makes and for some reason only catch the frustrating grounder misplays
  9. that's possible, but even so I seem to recall reading something where Hendry asked Lee to waive his NTC and he wouldn't do it so either way it was lose-lose for the Cubs. I'm guessing he'd think about waiving it if he started losing playing time to Hoffpauir. It'd be nice if Lou and/or Hendry had the balls to do that. Then again, they start docking his playing time, it only further decreases his value
  10. Ramirez, Fukudome, Soriano, Hoffpauir, Theriot, and Fontenot are all outhitting him. Yeah I know. I never said he was hitting better. He's still driven in more runs and hit more home runs than most of the lineup, which as I also said, isn't a significant stat. Just pointing it out
  11. Still hanging in there. It'd be nice if Carlos LEe and Ryan Howard start going on a home run hot streak right about now.
  12. 102/122 NFL: 2 - Chiefs, Rams MLB: None NBA: 4 - Warrios, Thunder, Suns, Jazz (Oklahoma, WTF? I haven't watched basketball in forever) NHL: 14 - Ducks, Thrashers, Bruins, Sabres, Hurricanes, Blue Jackets, Wild, Candiens, Predators, Islanders, Senators, Coyotes, Maple Leafs, Capitals Not bad considering I never ever watch NBA or NHL
  13. Derosa would still be 2nd on the team in HR and 1st in RBI. Not that that means anything significant, but despite his struggles he is still producing at a better clip than most of our lineup
  14. that's possible, but even so I seem to recall reading something where Hendry asked Lee to waive his NTC and he wouldn't do it so either way it was lose-lose for the Cubs.
  15. Fixed for sadness sake
  16. http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2372/2435188171_d587697328.jpg TO THE RESCUE Or not. Aramis went down about 2 years too early
  17. Let the good times roll!
  18. Did they win the whole damn thing that year? No. Nobody ever wins the world series in fictional baseball movies. They just make it to the playoffs. Or make it to the world series. Or do something spectacular. But teams never ever ever win the world series
  19. Breaking News: The Earth rotates on an axis!
  20. wrong Yeah for real, I saw it like 4 times and I didn't even go through the whole thread
  21. http://www.bingegamer.net/wp-content/uploads/2009/03/double-facepalm.jpg From this ESPN article on whether or not plate discipline is a teachable skill or a God given talent. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/columns/story?columnist=crasnick_jerry&id=4136793
  22. I would. If the Rangers are dumb enough to do that trade, then you could send Kinsler elsewhere for a pitcher much much better than Lilly. I'd do that trade, then send Kinsler in place of Vitters in a Peavy deal not possible it's very possible. in fact, if you're a team like the padres, you'd be thrilled to death to get a low-salary proven stud hitter like kinsler in a trade for peavy. I agree, but since we have to predict what he's thinking, I think he's saying that because Kinsler is a product of Arlington. However power output stays virtually the same. He's played 199 career home games and 197 career away games.. Home: 31HR Away: 30HR Home:105RBI Away: 107RBI Home: 36SB Away: 31SB So his HR and RBI are relatively the same, but he just sorta drops off from there Home: 165R 254H 63-2B 6-3B .333/.398/.553/.951 Away: 121R 193H 35-2B 2-3B .252/.323/.420/.743 His power output doesn't really change but everything else does. He's only batting .130 with a .607 OPS this season away from Arlington, while he's .467/1.376 at home. But he has 5HR at home and 4HR away. Perhaps his extreme splits is why Meph thinks he can't provide much value in a deal like that.
