  1. Ouch. The ESPN article mentions that the Mets are looking into ways to void paying him the rest of his salary this year, but voiding the entire contract is a little crazy. I know it was careless and messes up your season this year, but I would imagine K-Rod will still be effective next season. The last thing the Mets need is a weaker bullpen
  2. The K-Rod incident in which he got into a fight with his girlfriend's father and punched him in the face has apparently now resulted in being the cause of a torn ligament in his thumb and he now needs season ending surgery on it. Smooth maneuver, hoover http://sports.espn.go.com/new-york/mlb/news/story?id=5468863
  3. I never expected the Red Sox to try and get rid of Papelbon. I thought he would've been their Mariano Rivera
  4. Needs more CAPS and EXCLAMATION POINTS And prepubescent voice cracks
  5. If it were me I probably would've been a Debbie Downer about it and told him "What? No it won't. Pictures aren't worth anything unless they're autographed and even then the only ones that are worth something are the officially authorized MLB photos where the signature has a certificate of authenticity. What you want is an autograph on an official Major League Baseball. That photo won't be worth bubkis"
  6. 6 ER... it's like the Randy Wells special
  7. http://www.baseball-reference.com/minors/player.cgi?id=crawfo002eva Looks like a guy with slightly above average speed and a terrible K:BB ratio with no power. If you're gonna strike out as much as he has it better come with some power to balance it out... he has none it seems. But I don't know any scouting reports on him and I'm just basing this off his B-R stats
  8. Man that career is really taking off. OTC :banghead:
  9. IIRC correctly, he's more of an egomaniac than a rage filled psychopath. He hasn't been that bad in KC, crazy personality wise. Milton is still the biggest cuckoo in baseball (although Z isn't too far behind him)
  10. His production numbers have been alright, but his rate stats are terrible. He should still stick on somewhere. The Royals are slowly getting smarter... first trading Podsednik so they could make room for Gordon in the outfield, and now DFA'ing Guillen to get Ka'aihue in the lineup. There may be hope for this team yet.
  11. Man that Tim Beckham pick gets worse and worse every year. At least he's still young
  12. What ^^^^ said. Posey is ridonkulous
  13. I've batted against former major leaguers and high draft picts in non-professional leagues and it's neither terrifying nor awesome. When you are in the box it's see ball hit ball. Who is dealing is means nothing. That's not to say I was remotely successful either, b/c mostly I wasn't, but when i've been in the box it doesn't matter. Did any of them share a similar pedigree to Mark Prior
  14. A-Rod hits #600... and the crowd goes
  15. I know Prior is a shadow of his former self, but could you even begin to imagine what it would feel like to step into the batters box of a lowly independent league against Mark Prior? It's either terrifying or awesome... or both
  16. Lee's old, costs money, and hasn't shown much signs of improvement. Even if Lee made it through waivers and fell in the Red Sox lap I don't think they'd trade Anderson for him. He's still really young and filled with huge potential, and I don't envision the Red Sox as being a franchise that gives up on its still promising prospects for a 2 month over-the-hill rental
  17. And they sent him right back to the minors. Used to give the rotation an extra day of rest. He was pretty damn good though
  18. I don't know how his slider looks this year as I haven't really been able to catch many highlights, but I imagine he doesn't throw it nearly as often, nor does it have nearly the same bite it used to. But I do recall scouts and analysts last year during his struggles saying that he just looked like he was scared to try and throw it again, maybe in fear of damaging his arm again, and this lead to high walk rates and high ER totals. Guess all he needed was to gain back his confidence and trust his arm to hold up. It's working
  19. A surprise that he's successful, not really. He did have the pedigree of a top pitching prospect, but considering all his problems after his surgery (high walk rates, up and down between the minors, etc) it's really impressive he's been able to put up these numbers... especially considering how unlucky he's been on batted balls. It's just a shame he's not getting the recognition guys like Johnson, Price, Halladay, and Jimenez have been getting because his overall numbers that the media pays attention to don't match up to theirs
  20. Homers are down and no-hitters are up, duh!
