    This. I really like Kyle Blanks's bat, but he's not going to be useful anywhere except first base. Playing the outfield will only exacerbate his foot injuries. And if we are going to be in the market for Pujols or Fielder then there's no reason to really go after him until the Cubs figure out if either one of them is going to be on the ball club. Also, Kila Ka'aihue is another blocked 1B to consider. Would prefer Blanks though. Younger and has had some success in the majors already where as Kila has struggled.

    He would be, but his bat is gonna be ready fast. As a catcher he might take a lot longer to develop. Plus they already have Derek Norris and Wilson Ramos, among others (Jesus Flores) available at the position. Can't think of any top of the line OF prospects they have. Need to distribute the wealth

    Also, a higher range = ability to get to more balls = increased chances at making an error in the first place.

    The only big bat I remember them having in the last 5 years that was ever worth a damn was Frank Thomas. They always have pitching and they never have enough hitting. I understand it's a pitchers park, but maybe Beane should focus on sacrificing a little bit of the OBP for some SLG instead. EDIT: Forgot about Nick Swisher, but he's not really an impact bat. They could use a franchise hitter to build an offense around. Not sure if Chris Carter is going to be consistent enough to be that guy.

    That was a terrible pitch to hit. Breaking ball low and away, way out of the zone. Pujols reached on it. No reason for him to swing at it, but he did and it paid off. Tough break.

    If Jeff Mathis gets railroaded and his leg gets hurt, people go on with their daily lives not giving a crap. Just another part of the game. But since it's Buster Posey the Wunderkind, we need rule changes? No one was calling for a change when Kalish slid into Carlos Santana's leg last year, and that impact looked like a much more blatant attempt at causing injury than this one did. http://mlb.mlb.com/video/play.jsp?content_id=10553045 It's part of the game. Always has been, always will be. End of story. I do feel really bad for Buster Posey's agent, though, since his big pay day is going to be delayed a bit now. That's what's keeping me awake at night.
