  1. It's more than his twitter shenanigans. He's been taking shots at Hanley Ramirez, and skipped a season ticket holder meet and greet the day he was demoted to AAA.
  2. I wouldn't say he's fallen out of favor. He's been around for only a year or so and he's proven to be productive. It sounds more like his GM is a douche who doesn't like him playing around on the internet and is letting that affect his ability to properly manage a baseball team. I seriously doubt they trade him
  3. Maybe I've got rose colored glasses on, but I don't want to see Brett Jackson traded. To me, I think he's the most excited I've been about a position player coming through the Cubs system, even more so than Castro. He can hit for power, average, has great plate discipline, plays good defense, has good speed. He's the closest thing we've had to a 5-tool player since Corey Patterson came up through the system. Maybe I'm in the minority, but I wouldn't trade Brett Jackson, at least not yet. Chipper has to be on his last legs. If he plays again it can't be for much more than one more year. Would Vitters be an enticing trade target for them? His plate patience is crap and I'm not sure how his defense is coming along, but regardless of his results so far, he still knows how to hit and scouts have always said his lack of plate patience is largely due to his ability to hit damn near anything. He's still only 21, surely his upside would have long term appeal to a team about to lose the cornerstone of their franchise, yeah?
  4. I didn't even know there was such a thing as a disqualified list.
  5. I didn't see the game so I didn't know the context of the situation, but why did Quade leave him in to give up that many runs in the first place? Did they all just sort of come in one huge wave and they didn't have anyone warm enough to replace him yet?
  6. Neat. We can haz Pujols nao?
  7. Bryce Harper is going to be a real life Jack Parkman, and that's kind of awesome. Also, his shimmy makes the women in Cleveland puke

  9. I know thew Nats aren't going anywhere and bringing him back only further risks injury, but how do you not see the importance of having him get things back on track against legit MLB talent while he has the opportunity now? It would be beneficial for him to get his rhythm back and readjust to the league while learning to manage his delivery and mechanics to further avoid injury. Better to get it out of the way now and see if there will be any more problems then keep him on the shelf until spring training. If they send him to a Fall or Winter league he's just going to toy with the talent pool there, they might as well let him see MLB talent while he has the chance to see if he can right the ship and pick up where he left off

  11. Oh Jesus Christ now he's going to hit like 7.000 with an OBP of like A BILLION!!!!!
  12. Harden has made like 4 starts and he got them Lars Anderson? I know he's blocked and his stock has fallen a bit, but damn. Nice buy low trade, Oakland. Well done.
  13. I hadn't realized they turned Marc Rzepczynski into a reliever. Prior to last season he looked like a promising starter. Duncan might be able to do some good work with him, but that's about the only silver lining in that deal for the Cards.
  14. Eh, I was in meathead mode. I was drunk and did hasty generalizations without looking up statistics (Yes, drunk at 5:15PM on a Wednesday... don't ask questions) After a reassessment, you (and the others) are correct, though Byrd's OPS is slightly better than Span's, but not by much, and Span's defense makes him more valuable than Byrd. I still wouldn't trade Storen for him though, but that's just my personal opinion.
  15. I wish I had more hands, so I could give this team four thumbs down!
  16. Nomo showed up in 95. And was bad ass
  17. I understand Span has good value, I'm just of the opinion that you don't trade away a guy who was a 10th overall pick and became your closer 1 1/2 years into his professional career and hasn't made you regret making that choice one bit. He's 23, btw. Turns 24 next month
  18. This seems slightly ridiculous. Storen is an incredible young talent who will probably be more difficult to replace in terms of quality and value and they're supposedly willing to give him up for Span who, while a solid player, is probably much easier to find a replacement for? Are the Nats really that desperate for a CF'er that they're willing to move one of the best young pitchers in the game for him? I know he's a reliever and they're volatile, but Storen isn't just some flash in the pan guy who came out of nowhere. Pitch them on Byrd. He's injured too, and far more productive than Span when healthy. Also, how is Span considered the better player in this write up?
  19. Is he a free agent after this year?!?! They traded Rasmus for a half year rental of Edwin [expletive] Jackson? It gets even better
  20. I'm pretty sure he's not overvalued as he's been on like 10 teams in 5 years. Then again, he's been traded for some awfully good players. This. It seems like everyone wants him on their team except the team that has him. I'm sure the Cards will deal him next year to someone like the Twins for Aaron Hicks or something
  21. Edwin Jackson is not that good. I'm shocked at how much value people attach to him. He pitched extremely well for 196.2 innings in his career (2.79 ERA first half of 2009 + White Sox stint in 2010). He's got a 4.97 ERA in the other 802 innings he's pitched in his career. I've never seen someone so overvalued as Edwin Jackson
  22. D-Backs are in the middle of a pennant race and are getting little to no production out of first base. They could overpay for someone like Pena who is a notoriously better 2nd half hitter. And hitting in that ballpark Pena could put up much better power numbers than he has hitting for the Cubs so far this season. I don't think it's out of line to think that they wouldn't at least discuss the option of trading one of those guys for him
