  1. Well it's a good thing he was worth more than $20 million last year so that's one hell of a bargain!
  2. He'd need to pitch into his mid 50's to reach 300. And he'd need to do it effectively and with a [expletive] load of run support. Otherwise he'd need to go into his 60's
  3. Jamie Moyer continues to spit in God's face:
  4. I'm beginning to think that an email to this guy could get him to tweet just about anything, not unlike the guy who tweeted about an NFL draft prospect that didn't exist just because someone sent him a 1 line email. Seems like it. I miss the good ol days when MLBTR was the same way. I, for one, don't miss the overuse of these, though:
  5. So if it reaches its full potential it will be a $120+ million after posting fee. Hefty investment, I think he'll be worth it though
  6. I hope he's wrong so he goes back to making blanket statements to cover his own ass. Those make me chuckle.
  7. No, but packaging Garza with Soriano and most of his contract or Marlon Byrd, etc. might be enough to entice them to trigger a trade.
  8. Soriano would make sense, depends on how much they're able to take on/Cubs are willing to eat. Would packaging Garza + Soriano + $ loosen the reigns for a Turner/Castellanos deal?
  9. Todd Walker may have been a defensive liability, but he still made one of the most amazing plays I've seen at 3B in the last 10 years when he was with the Padres. Wish I could find video of it
  10. Because he was just saying that as a figure of speech?
  11. It would soon Not if he gets locked up. He might have to make the switch to catcher
  12. ಠ_ಠ When the President of the Marlins comes out publicly and says "Aggressive right to the point of stupidity, but not quite there" , and considering their aggressiveness this offseason so far and their desire to bring in players that appeal to the hispanic community which is largely Cuban to begin with, I wouldn't hesitate to think they're the toughest team to beat in this situation. The more I think about those league home run totals though the more I think there's more going on in the Cuban league than just pure talent. Same # of games, same # of AB's on average each year, but the home run totals practically double over one season, and more than double in two? It screams "red flag" to me, personally. Makes me want Cespedes a whole lot less. Would prefer Soler very much at this stage
  13. I wouldn't do it. If neither of those two are coming a package starts with Porcello and Smyly. Nice players, but to paraphrase a Donald Glover joke, that's like the [expletive] of trade proposals.
  14. Reading this part of that article kind of makes it seem like there may be a lot of PED use in the Cuban league...

  16. This is an aside and I apologize for going off topic a bit, and I'm not trying to troll or anything, asking an honest question. While many consider Cuban and Japanese leagues to be minor league caliber, why do they always seem to be the toughest teams to beat in world competitions? Do they have better star level talent to comprise into one team than USA, Dominican, etc.? Or is it because lack of scouting these teams have on them compared to a world of scouting knowledge freely available on the star players from MLB that comprise the teams for USA, Dominican, Venezuela, etc.?
  17. WTF, Kyler Burke is a pitcher now? I guess it makes sense if you can't hit High A ball at 22. Did not know he transitioned
  18. I only count 3 elite arms currently set for FA - Cain, Hamels, Greinke - with Anibal Sanchez as a very good 2nd tier option. After that, a 31 year old Marcum is probably the next best starter. That pitching field is thinning fast. And I have full faith that Ruben Amaro is going to give Hamels an 8-year $670 million deal
  19. Yeah, make him your fifth starter, dave. Rushing him to the majors works really well. Just look how that worked out with porcello
  20. I hear Crane Kenny is lobbying
