    I didn't follow the draft last year all that much, and judging by his numbers he's been relatively quiet so no one really talks about him. I saw that name and I thought "This isn't the Rizzo Nickname thread..."

    that's what I was thinking. Profar is still in A ball right? I was just dreaming but you never know. AA ball. 19 years old. I'm sure if Profar was doing what he was doing at the age of 22 he'd be much lower on the prospect lists. His overall numbers are very nice, but not insane if that's all you're looking at... but because he's 19 and in AA ball, they pretty much are insane. He's great.

    Just curious since I was born in '84 so I don't know how bad that was. Was it as bad as '03? I was in college and I remember after the whole Bartman/A Gonz fiasco, my dorm basically turned into a riot. Kids were throwing stuff out the window or into the hallway and I'm pretty sure I've never heard so much cussing as I did that night. After the '03 series was over I got black out drunk and apparently tried to chop down a tree in the back yard while yelling obscenities at it.

    I think the whole thing is being taken out of context just because the Rangers were the only team dumb enough to break the bank for him. The Cubs obviously made a serious bid based on their evaluation of the market for Darvish. Just because one team stupidly outbid someone by $35 million doesn't make the Cubs offer a joke, it just makes the Rangers look foolish for not doing a better job of evaluating the rest of the league's stance on posting fees for foreign players.

    Huh? He's doing a story on that subject and it will be on Baseball Prospectus tomorrow. you are probably right, but i honestly read this as though he was saying the prospects would be at batting practice tomorrow because the prospects are a couple bags of baseballs. Thought the same thing
