    Agreed. McCarthy has been #1 on my offseason wish list for the Cubs FA targets. You have set the bar incredibly low. I'm keeping the bar within the realm of realistic targets.

    That's an awful lot of money to make a guy go away, especially from a team without a ton of talent. Where the [expletive] did Heyman get $189 million from? He's owed $21 million, and his contract was only $66 million. WTF? 189 isn't even possible to typo with any of the numbers left from Bay's contract. EDIT: Weird mistake I guess... He meant 18.9M. If you total his 16M in '13 and 3M in '14 that makes sense. Well, even though that's $19 million and not $18.9 million I can see the mistake happening then

    Harden's 12 starts for the Cubs in '08 generated more bWAR than McCarthy's entire '11 And McCarthy's fWAR was 2.7 higher than Harden's time with the Cubs in '08, and .3 points higher than his entire '08.

    Yes to McCarthy please. Man, if there wasn't something rotten about the Dan Haren deal and they ended up signing McCarthy that would be one high risk, high reward rotation.
