  1. For those like me who didn't have any idea, Roberto Hernandez is the artist formerly known as Fausto Carmona. He missed most of 2012 due to an ankle injury, and put up some interesting K/BB numbers last year while showing a very extreme platoon split(.908 OPS to LH). He should legally change his name back to Fausto Carmona because that's one of the most boss names ever.
  2. why? makes samardzidja more valuable this season, then we just spend 20 mil next year and negotiate with tanaka. Because I want Masahiro Tanaka in a Cubs uniform more than anything else this offseason. That's why. It's irrational, and I don't care.
  3. I will be so very mad if Rakuten decides not to post him
  4. I doubt Balfour would, but I would very much like it if he joined the team. But he's gonna get big money for a closer and multiple years. Not likely.
  5. You can argue his walks went up because Pujols was injured and Hamilton forgot how to play baseball and as a result Trumbo had no one around him to protect him in the lineup so teams felt more comfortable walking him when he was swinging a hot bat.
  6. How on Earth was Michael Bourn's oWAR worth 2 wins last year?
  7. Like others, I wouldn't mind Morrison provided we're dealing expendable players. I was gonna say I don't like how his power has disappeared, but that appears to be a byproduct of his park (.352 SLG home vs. .400 SLG away in 2013 and .328 SLG home vs. .478 SLG away in 2012) His injury proneness makes me wary, but I wouldn't mind acquiring him if the price is right. Also like others have said, I wouldn't want to deal Olt for him. I like Olt's upside vs. Morrison's, personally.
  8. Saw this over on PSD... Not sure what else they have that they'd be willing to part with that would be decent enough for Shark.
  9. Who is North? He an insider, too?
  10. Barney was more valuable in 2012 than any season of Cain's Barney 2012 - 2.3 WAR in 156 games Cain 2013 - 2.6 WAR in 115 games Barney career - 5.0 WAR in 470 games Cain career - 5.4 WAR in 225 games He's likely using B-R which lists Barney's 2012 as 4.6 rWAR. Cain's best season was this past season which was a 3.2 rWAR. Cain's career rWAR is still greater than Barney's though, 7.4 to 6.4. Also, Cain had a 2.1 rWAR in 43 games in 2010
  11. How high is Zunino's value? Would he be a guy who needs a player like Franklin or Ackley included or just him and a low level prospect with upside?
  12. The FO moving Samardzija has never been about getting a valuable offensive piece in the first place. If one happens to be thrown in, all the better. Also, Cain actually does have intriguing offensive upside. He's been injured a bit prior to this season, and I think the reason he missed so many games this season was because he started the year on the DL, but he actually has the offensive capability of putting up a solid season for a player whose primary value comes from defense. I don't think it's out the realm of possibility for him to put up a season at his peak like .280/.340/.420 with 10-15 homers and 20-30 SB. He's just gotta be healthy.
  13. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3LK-5WtXQCY Yeah, that was excellent.
  14. Ahh. I don't watch the show, but that video I posted was the most recent thing posted in the news. Would like to see the HOF rant, though.
  15. The buyout is guaranteed, so it's either 2/62.5 or 3/77.5, just as he wrote. Ahhhh yeah, forgot about the buyout.
  16. Where are you getting 2/$62.5 from? He's got two years at $25 mil per left before his option year. And if he stays healthy then his option of $27.5 million is all but guaranteed, unless he falls of a cliff and moves to the back of the rotation.
  17. Seattle: "Nelson, we'd like to offer you 5 years and $75 million" Nelson: "Sorry guys, I just got offered that a few seconds ago." Seattle: "Ugh, fine. 6 years $100 million"
  18. Gotcha. Speaking of Nelson Cruz there was a rumor that he turned down a 5 year $75 million offer form Seattle which a) can't be true and b) if it is true, Nelson Cruz is an idiot and of course it could only be Seattle who would offer him that much money
  19. I'm guessing you're referring to this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eCCuPIcBbnw
  20. Damn, not that the Cubs were in on Paxton but I like him as a trade target. Also, I don't see the M's having the offensive pieces to acquire Price. At least not the expendable offensive pieces.
  21. Breaking News - The Cubs are the frontrunner for a former ML pitcher with a history of injuries. Stay tuned for future updates. LOL http://i.imgur.com/9Ztn0.gif
  22. Doesn't look like the Cubs and Choo are gonna work out if this is accurate
  23. Should probably change the title :(
  24. I don't see how adding young, effective, team controlled, proven veteran reliever(s) could be perceived as "overkill".
