  1. You won't miss the photo essays with captions like, "SEE?!?! He wasn't really that much smaller back with the Rangers!!!"
  2. Yeah, I figured there'd be people reveling in this. Probably just because it validates their opinion in a long-standing argument. If you take major pride in the art of pointless online arguing, this is exciting news.
  3. Sam Fuld? Mark Kotsay without the contact, apparently.
  4. That's hilarious. "Hey, honey. Today I bought a 1995 Honda Civic Hatchback, but without the transmission!"
  5. That's some weird wrist action on the takeaway.
  6. Vitters for Marquis. NL leader in wins, baby.
  7. "Thrilled we could acquire a habadasher like Bobby Nicholson," Cubs scouting director Tim Wilken said. "He sells his hats hard, he does it the right way and he has a chance to be a true habadasher. Habadasher."
  8. I'm not going to get my panties all in a bunch over draft choices the day after, because we really have no idea how these guys will pan out, but quotes like these are so annoying to see from the Cubs. Why can't we ever see Wilken say things like, "We loved his approach at the plate" or "This guy has tremendous power to all fields" or even "He's a remarkable defensive player." We always end up hearing about athleticism, makeup, clutchiness and gamer-ism. Because that's how "baseball people" talk. My mock draft for the Cubs today: 4. Baseball player 5. Baseball player 6. Baseball player 7. Baseball player 8. Baseball player 9. Baseball player 10. Baseball player 11. Electrical engineer 12. Baseball player 13. Baseball player 14. Baseball player 15. Baseball player 16. Baseball player 17. Habadasher 18. Baseball player 19. Baseball player 20. Baseball player 21. Baseball player 22. Baseball player 23. Construction foreman 24. Religious zealot 25. Baseball player

  10. Yeah, they should have drafted a guy who will hit 30 homers. Dumb move.
  11. Didn't the draft used to be during the day? I seem to remember that, and I was really hoping to waste my entire work day by following it. Can anyone call MLB and get it moved up five hours?
  12. I don't really like to pick on 16 year olds, but the kid sounds like a d-bag. Obviously talented, but part of me hopes it's not as easy for him as he expects.
  13. http://www.cyberindian.net/wp-content/uploads/epson-stylus-c79-printer.jpg
  14. Yeah, his peripherals mostly support what he's been doing. The only thing that is way out of line would be his LOB%. It's at 80 percent now, which isn't sustainable. Even his BABIP (.278) is at a reasonable number. But still, if he keeps pounding the strike zone and mixing it up, he could be a solid starter for a long time.
  15. Well, kudos to you.
  16. Link? http://www.nancarrow-webdesk.com/warehouse/storage2/2007-w39/img.07957_t.jpg Granted hes no Alexei Ramirez, but Hendry is of pretty average build for a man his age for someone who warrants so many fat jokes. If I were going to make a fat joke about one of the two men in that photo, I wouldn't choose Hendry.
  17. Each fake trade proposal to mock the original post gets less funny.
  18. Does it help to imagine how difficult it will be for him to guarantee that third year? A little, I guess.
  19. I've been willing to give Bradley a lot of slack this season, but man....awfully tough to be positive about his contract right now.
  20. Or four of the first six batters he faces.
  21. Well, he first carried a concealed weapon into a club. That's not exactly model behavior.
  22. You know, I never thought I'd say this, but this offseason makes me miss Thabo Sefolosha. With Gordon potentially gone and Deng/Hinrich as trade bait, it would be nice to have a young wing on the roster who can defend. If your Deng/Tyrus for Bosh deal happened, the Bulls lineup could have looked like: PG: Rose SG: Sefolosha SF: Salmons PF: Bosh C: Noah That's an athletic lineup that can run and defend fairly well, and there'd be plenty of offense on the floor with Rose, Bosh and Salmons. But without Sefolosha, I'm not sure who slides in at the SG position. I know it was a minor deal, but I never understood why they traded Thabo. It's really unlikely they'll get a player as solid as him with the 26th pick. /pointless tangent
