  1. It doesn't matter that Soto has played the OF, he does it poorly. And even if he was average, that's worse than Seiya and Happ, so if he were a Cub his best position is DH and that is perfectly OK because he's a top 3 hitter in the game right now and is generally likely to remain very good because he is only 24 years old.
  2. Among active players, Soto is 3rd in adjusted OPS+ at 157 , behind Trout (173) and Judge (164). He is 7 years younger than both of them. Acuna, Olson, Bregman, and Seager are the only other under 30 players in the top 28. They're all 16 points or more in OPS+ behind. Even if he is only a DH, Soto is a superstar worth a buttload of $$$ and a few good (not top) prospects
  3. honestly, i was expecting a lot more from the article. Kind of a blah retelling just hoping to generate clicks based off of Cubs fans being gluttons for punishment.

  5. Clearly, having Chase Claypool with the team was the problem
  6. Are they really going to start Steele in this meaningless game? Shut him down. He was great, but has really faded down the stretch.
  7. Dansby swinging through 91 belt-high down the middle encapsulates our September offense perfectly
  8. we look so bad against such a mediocre pitcher
  9. Well, after Sunday I think they'll have about 4 and a half months off
  10. I don't know if he's good, but taking a look at this roster: https://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/SFG/2023.shtml tells me he probably isn't bad, given they have won 78 games so far
  11. That pass on the OT winner was pretty awesome
  12. Surely Getsy gets the Thursday game too before getting the axe. I know scheme won't change, but can you really install a new OC on a short week?
  13. Honestly, in 2022 Holliday is the only guy I'd take over Horton, and in 2023 we would have had to get into the top 5 to get someone I'd definitely take over Shaw (in hindsight)
  14. Brock Bowers would be a pretty good target if trading down from 2 to like 5 or whatever
  15. Anyone else feel like the infield should have been back with Acuna up? Feels like Nico would have caught that line drive from normal depth.
  16. So is there literally anyone in the bullpen you would feel confident bringing into any close game right now?
  17. anyone surprised that the guy with an ERA over 5 is struggling the 3rd time through the order against the best lineup in baseball? No? Just David Ross?
  18. Candelario helped win games in the middle of a playoff push, which Herz would not have done for the Cubs this year. The trade is already worth it. Maybe Herz and Made turn out to be stars, but more likely they turn out not to be.
  19. yeah, there's nothing remotely reasonable about wanting the Bears to tank over being good enough to make the playoffs
