  1. I'm not totally out on Flus anymore, because the defense has clearly come together and the team continues to fight hard and he seems like a good CEO type, but I am completely unconvinced that Getsy should stay. There doesn't seem to be a cohesive gameplan most weeks, even considering Fields' propensity to hop in the pocket and struggles to make reads
  2. Yeah, but the pressure from ownership is basically only to be competitive in a weak division. The Mets may have paid him similarly, but Cohen isn't going to be as easy to satisfy as Ricketts, and I'm sure he'd rather compete with Mil/Stl/Cin than Atl/Phi
  3. Wouldn't an extension allow them to lower his LT number? Pretty sure it's $25M since it's all he has left on his contract... an "extension" that adds a couple years at lower rates with an opt-out/mutual option would spread out the $ and lower the LT hit, right?
  4. Nobody has deferred being mega-wealthy. Ohtani makes insane amounts of money from endorsements, in addition to the 42ish million he earned in salary and bonuses from the Angels. He's already mega-wealthy you dolt
  5. As much as I hate the Brewers, it's hard to be mad at that kind of sign stealing
  6. "You know, we need that Tommy Davita guy. He knows how to beat the Packers." /Score Caller In all seriousness, surely we can find someone who can be a good enough bridge QB if the rookie QB they take isn't ready from Day 1. Jake Browning, Gardner Minshew and Baker Mayfield are all currently starting for teams in the playoff picture and are all FAs after this year per sportrac. They'll have enough cap room to pay a guy enough to be that bridge QB/backup
  7. Can't believe they got that much for Darnold. I think you could convince someone to give a first if Fields plays well the next few games. He's shown he can completely change a game, which is something Darnold has definitely never done. If they can't get a first, I would at least push for a 2nd and 3rd together... maybe a 2nd, 2025 3rd, and a 5th?
  8. fun fact: if he is fired, he will have never beaten Brad Underwood
  9. Man, I know sometimes it can be hard typing on a phone, but you've called Naylor 'Naydor' like 25 times this weekend...
  10. He doesn't have his favorite receiver, Dell, and that defense is nasty... bad combination for a young QB
  11. I think it's pretty much ideal that Wicks would be our 6th best starter to open the season. Start him in Iowa and have him ready to go when the first injury hits
  12. I absolutely wanted Ohtani on any deal possible. The Ricketts can pay it all, and he would have given the Cubs a better chance at winning another World Series every year he played.
  13. I hate how much I agree with that statement. It just seems wrong, but they weren't all that dissimilar over the whole season as far as hitting. And the difference in cost (assuming the $$ gets spent to improve other positions in this scenario) isn't worth the difference in defense and power
  14. If it's not Passan or Rosenthal reporting it, I'm not believing it.
  15. Thank you, Mitch!
  16. https://twitter.com/JeffPassan/status/1732609518473720236?t=HJGdvpQJdHSSzLU5-zzrQA&s=19 Deal with Yankees is official, per Passan
  17. Daniel didn't even sign with the Cubs... went to college and was later drafted and signed by the Angels
  18. The definitive statements about what they are or are not offering Ohtani are just complete speculation. Nobody but the FO and the players/agents that receive the offers knows the details.
  19. Quick run through of teams in the hunt and their QBs 1st rounders: Tua (2nd qb, #5 ovr), Allen (3rd, pick 7), Lamar (4th, pick 32), Pickett (1st qb, pick 20), Watson (3rd qb, pick 12), Mahomes (2nd QB, pick 10), Lawrence (#1), Stroud (#2, 2nd qb), Goff (#1, acquired via trade), Love (4th qb, pick 26) and Stafford (#1) Others: Minshew (though Colts picked Richardson 4th, 3rd qb taken), Russ (3rd rounder, multiple 1sts traded to acquire), Hurts (2nd rounder, 5th! qb taken), Dak (4th rd), Dobbs/Cousins (low pick/big FA signing of previous 4th rd pick), Purdy (7th), and Geno Smith (2nd rd, 2nd QB - what a terrible overall draft 2013 was, yikes)
  20. Staff and their specific roles should be announced soon. Trades are likely regardless of Ohtani
  21. Best shot at a Patriots win Thursday involves a defensive score or two... cmon Mitch
