  1. Anyone have any particular feelings about Thomas Brown being brought in as passing game coordinator?
  2. The "Packers plan" only worked because they had HOF QBs in place. Mahomet did the same thing, with Alex Smith playing pretty dang well. Smith threw for over 4000 yards, 26 TDs and only 5 INTs in 15 games that year while rushing for over 300 yards as KC went 9-6. Hard to bench a guy playing like that. Fields hasn't shown he can replicate Smith's performance or even a close facsimile, let alone that of Rodgers or Favre
  3. you're probably right
  4. Depending on how the board falls, I'd be interested in seeing the Bears move down from 9 to a team like Seattle (16), Pittsburgh (20), or Tampa Bay (26) and see if they can pick up a 1st rounder next year from them. Those teams feel like ones that could easily crater, and also might be aggressive in moving up to take a jump over this year. It's a tough bet, because moving down that far could take you out of the range of guys the org has 1st round grades on, but if you got something like this year's 1, next year's 1, and maybe swap your 3 for their 2, it might be worth moving down. I feel like the 2024 Bears will be similar in record to this year's team if they pick the right QB, and 2025 is when they could really jump with that QB in their 2nd year and an additional 1st rounder could provide a big needed talent boost, or the ammo to move up for a big time player.
  5. What a bad throw from Jackson
  6. Fields isn't good enough. Try again. If your QB isn't good enough, the rest of your roster has to be unbelievable and healthy. A good enough QB can carry an average roster.
  7. The "18-22 year old kid" thing is bogus on its own, because be better. The larger issue for me is the grown men who act like the rumors they have heard that they want to believe because they paint "our guy" in the best light possible are the Gospel truth are giving a standing ovation right along with everyone else. I hope he didn't do what he's accused of, but the fact is there are only a couple people who might actually know what happened, and those people aren't involved in any of these conversations, and I'm uncomfortable with all the speculation because it's just an awful situation either way.
  8. I'm ok with Kyle not getting extended. At best, I'd offer him 1 year at a time if he's good. I love him and what he's done, but hopefully our young pitching comes along/we acquire good young pitching and we don't need to rely on him next year - or sooner.
  9. Also, doesn't it make sense for the superstar college QB on an average team to want to always have the ball in his hands?
  10. The biggest problem is that I don't think he is on the hot seat next year with a rookie QB unless they pull a Panthers and the rookie QB sucks - which obviously would be an even bigger problem. If the rookie QB is good, then Eberflus probably won't screw things up too badly, but I wonder about his overall philosophy/strategy (the stupid "200 Club" thing, for example) and his questionable defensive playcalling. Was going to question his offensive philosophy too, but I think it's fair to wonder how much they were handcuffed by Fields' passing/Getsy's playcalling
  11. Ballesteros and Triantos are the only ones that are surprises to me, and I can understand why each is on there
  12. and yet, he had to fire two staff members for reasons not relating to the team's performance...
  13. Seriously, if Caleb Williams is even Kirk Cousins-level at QB, he will revered by Bears fans like nobody outside of the '85 Bears has been
  14. Busch is a potentially exciting bat, Almonte could be a good value in the pen. If you're going to trade prospects, A-ball pitcher is the bucket I'd most prefer to trade from. And a HS bat who hasn't made it out of the Complex league (not that he should have, just that his career is only just underway) is certainly no sure thing either. It seems like a smart move overall, trading future hope for (hopefully) short-term production
  15. It was pretty clear from Poles' quotes to Joniak (I think) on pregame radio that Flus was his guy... hopefully they can get a good OC in... Any interest in Bienemy? Not even sure who you would go after... the appeal of getting to work with the #1 pick is surely there... but if the team sucks again, Flus has to go and you're out of a job
  16. what a drive... that run by Corum to finish it off was impressive... I feel sick complimenting Michigan like this
  17. The defenses are definitely the most impressive part of this game
  18. Do you think they'll make an announcement if they're sticking with the status quo? Like an announcement to retain Flus and Getsy? or will we only get an announcement if there are changes?
  19. I feel like they're waiting to talk to Harbaugh before making any decision on Flus...
  20. I don't think you can trade #1 at this point. Fields ain't it. If you think Williams or Maye can replicate what Stroud did this year, the Bears are a playoff team next year.
  21. This is Gary Crowton erasure... sure the talent was abysmal, but his offenses average 15 ppg across 2 seasons.
