The writer does make good points about whether to just leave them alone since they are clearly coming together as a team right now and a new player (esp. an older vet) might disrupt that. That said, the addition of Gaborik really sparked the team last year, and Horton has been a huge addition this year.

Any rumblings on the trade market? Columbus is loaded with young talent, and has won 7 straight to play their way into a playoff spot. The Gaborik trade was big, the Horton signing is paying off (now that he's on the ice), so they seem to be in a good position to make another splash.

Well that seems like just a bit of a leap, dontcha think? Yeah, but point is....there's no logic to removing it. I've heard "shorten the game" as a reason for no PATs, but that's stupid. There's a lot of things they could get rid of (hell kickoffs are almost more pointless at this point). Or they could simply give a team a 40-second play clock after the TD to kick the PAT. Would also cut out all the celebration as the guys would need to get off the field in a hurry. It's pointless because there are like 4 misses per 1000 attempts
