  1. It's like Penn State has to deal with reduced scholarships or something. There's talent there, but the coaching isn't good. The DC and OC aren't impressing me this season
  2. so, so ugly. my optimism from PSU's insanely easy schedule is being severely tempered by their terrible line play
  3. Rutgers outplaying Penn State on every level. Blocked FG, blocked punt, sacking Hackenberg, stuffing the run.....disgusting display
  4. regardless of rooting interest, PSU vs. Rutgers has been a terrible game so far
  5. Holy [expletive] that is one of the dumbest gaffes I've ever heard. Has this ever happened before? I've seen it before. Some teams would rather start with their defense on the field in both halves, thinking that a defense stop + punt will give their offense better starting field position than a kickoff return
  6. I used to wonder something similar. I don't know the letter of the rule, but I think the difference is intent(e.g. turning to look at the sideline is not confused with starting the play), timing(turning to look at the sideline is done earlier in the play clock), or both. I've never seen a defensive lineman mistake that for the start of a play, fwiw. Sometimes the QB gives a really hard count before stepping back. I haven't seen a D-Lineman jump on that, but I wonder how it would be called if he did
  7. Honest question: When did they decide that after everyone on the line was in their stance and set, and then everyone steps back and looks to the sideline for a new play, it WASN'T a false start? Seems like the definition of a false start to me
  8. Over. Iowa, Penn State and Nebraska
  9. This Maryland vs. WVU game is entertaining as hell
  10. Hate to admit it, but I kinda like these Maryland uniforms
  11. citation needed my intention was not to excuse them. sorry if it came across that way
  12. I think the sports media's coverage of this is disingenuous, yeah. Mainly the TV side, where they'll follow an update on the Ray Rice case with "TOP TEN BONE CRUSHING TACKLES OF WEEK ONE". And while we should always be disgusted when these players abuse their children or spouses, we shouldn't be surprised by it. And NO, that doesn't mean we should expect every player to have violent tendencies, so don't even put those words in my mouth
  13. Do you get itchy building these straw men? I didn't say that playing football makes men into wife beaters, I just said it shouldn't come as a surprise when they are. You don't know what a straw man is. It's a "surprise" because most of them AREN'T wife beaters. It's a dumb attempt to inexplicably try to denigrate people who are horrified by this because...[expletive], I don't even know why you're doing that. It's a horrible thing that people are reacting strongly to, but you have an issue with that because they're not just dismissing it as "psh, whatever, of course athletes are beating their wives and kids and [expletive], ah-doy." Why would it possibly bother you that people are "shocked" or "surprised" over this? Every time you post I need to go back and re-read what I wrote, because I feel like you're reading something completely different
  14. Do you get itchy building these straw men? I didn't say that playing football makes men into wife beaters, I just said it shouldn't come as a surprise when they are. I'm also referring more to the reactions of the mouth-breathing Facebook posters than anyone here
  15. http://img3.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20130405210153/degrassi/images/7/75/Eyeroll.gif You're so cool for getting this and everyone else is so stunned and stuff. yes, that's what I was getting at. I'm the only one who gets it. Just me. Nailed it.
  16. We're going to see more and more of this stuff come out. There's blood in the water for the media now, and they're going to dig and dig. Not sure why people are surprised though.....these guys are paid millions to be angry and physically aggressive. We cheer them when they hit other men, then put on our shocked face when they hit people off the field.
  17. The NFL is starting to make the NCAA look like an effective institution Just kidding, they both suck
  18. Soler is away from the team for the birth of his child. Spawn of Soler isn't born, he is created by the Gods to save the world
  19. SF's brand new, state of the art stadium has a garbage field? Someone should tell somebody You do realize that the field at Levi's Stadium has been replaced 2 times already? They ripped it up after an MLS game, and again after the first preseason game. Guess someone told somebody
  20. SF's brand new, state of the art stadium has a garbage field? Someone should tell somebody
  21. It was actually less graphic than I had expected. There was no blood visible. You can see where the ball hit his face but you didn't get an idea of how bad it was until the aftermath and when they showed him on the ambulance cart on the way the field and the swelling and blood had set in. I hope he comes back quickly and is the same player but this type of thing tends to change the player and his approach at the plate. They are going to have to rebuild his face and then he's going to have to face the phycological challenge of getting back into the batters box with the memory of having his face crushed in the back of his mind. You see blood pouring from his face as he's laying on the ground
  22. just saw the Upshaw hit on Roethlisberger that got flagged. It was a clean hit, right to his chest......have no idea what they're penalizing anymore
  23. I haven't seen the clip, and now I really hope I never do EDIT: Not 5 minutes later, I see it. Oh well
  24. it's his first offense, so he would get a 6 game suspension, not indefinite. so Goodell couldn't even implement his own policy correctly (the first time he had to implement it)
  25. So then you have no problem with the fact that the NFL only waited until after the video was leaked to impose stiffer punishments? You have no problem that the Ravens waited until after the video leaked to terminate Ray Rice's contract? what? no, of course i'm not ok with their deplorable non-reaction to this. but i'm certainly not going to complain that public outcry forced them to get it right My complaint is that there was no public outcry before Monday's leak. At least not enough to get the NFL to do anything of substance. You do realize that public outcry actually caused them to almost immediately toughen their domestic abuse related punishments? Because it did and maybe you were on holiday or something. Yes, on paper they did, yet convicted abusers like Greg Hardy continue to play
