Aren't you gonna get USC in the Rose Bowl? That's a pretty marquee game It is, but I think there's something to the idea of the two remaining champs playing each other. USC is a good game, but they have 3 losses and didn't even play in their title game

I wish the auto tie-ins were looser and we could see Penn State play Oklahoma in a bowl game. I think seeing the two Power Five champs who didn't make the playoff would be a marquee game

So here is where the idea of announcing playoff rankings every week comes back to bite the committee in the ass: if they move anyone out of the top four to put in Penn a state or Michigan or whoever, they now have to justify why they took someone else out. I get that they do it to get people to be interested and to give sports media something to write and talk about, but it would be so much cleaner for them to just announce the four without the build up. You'd still have schools mad that they didn't make it, but you could more easily justify putting the Big Ten champ in over Washington when you haven't had Washington in the top four all year. It's just become the same poll system we've always hated

Excellent point. I've said it many times, but a New Years Day with all 4 quarterfinal games being played throughout the day would be the most epic sports day in America. You could'nt have the round of 8 that late. You'd have to do the quarterfinals sometime between championship week and new year's day, probably at the top seeds' home stadiums

Isn't the B1G champion locked into the Rose if they don't make the playoff? I know normally those slots go to 'highest ranked team outside the playoff', but I think that's under the assumption that the champ is in the playoff. No I think that changed but I could be wrong. They were talking about how if Michigan was selected for the Rose Bowl and Colorado was the Pac 12 champ but didn't make the playoff, they might switch out Colorado so there wouldn't be a rematch. Either way, if for some reason the Rose Bowl selected Michigan over Penn State, PSU would almost certainly be selected for the Orange Bowl and play Florida State or Louisville instead of playing Washington, Colorado or USC. I'm hearing speculation that PSU would play W. Michigan in a bowl (puke)

The only thing that would really kiss me off is if Penn State wins but they pick Michigan for the Rose Bowl instead

CBJ just completed their best November in team history (9-2-3, 21 points). Don't know what clicked for them this season, but they are playing great
