    The Padres signing both Machado and Harper and still finishing in last place would just be the best

    Even if the non-elite guys are on shorter deals? Harper has averaged around 5 fWAR over the past 3 seasons Keuchel/Kimbrel/Marwin have combined to average around 7.5 fWAR over the past 3 season. And you wouldn't have any on the hook for a 10 year commitment. Instead of signing Greg Maddux the Cubs used the money on Jose Guzman, Randy Myers, Dan Plesac, Candy Maldonado, and Willie Wilson. That didn't turn out too hot. Those guys are totally equivalent to Keuchel and Kimbrel, good call I'm not saying I would sign the 3 over the 1, just throwing it out there for discussion.

    If you're Philly, are you better off putting that money into Harper, or investing in some combo of Keuchel/Kimbrel/Gonzalez/??? instead

    I'm not going to go dig it up, but last season I made a post showing his swings in Atlanta, St. Louis and Chicago. The rolling ankle was barely a thing in Atlanta, and has gotten worse and worse as he has aged (and as his numbers have plummeted).

    Still rolling his front ankle. I don't know why no one fixes this....seems like rolling your front foot would create all sorts of problems in terms of stability and consistency

    Is it dumb to think that if this was purely about money, that Bryce would have signed with someone by now? Is there anything to the idea that the teams that are offering the contract he wants aren’t exciting him in terms of a ten year commitment?

    I know the prevailing thought has been that the rest of the free agents have been waiting on Harper/Machado to set the market, but at this point, I'm sorta shocked that Kuechel, Gonzalez, et al are still sitting there unsigned. When does the dam break?
