  1. Looks like Prior is indeed on the table. http://insider.espn.go.com/mlb/features/rumors Who ever thought Prior would need to be "packaged" in a deal? How far we've fallen...
  2. Eyre, Howry, Rusch, Perez, Jones, Pierre vs. Elarton, Bako, Mientkiewicz, Grudzielanek, Sanders, Redman, Dessens discuss
  3. Um.... Zito: 86-53, 3.50 ERA, 1.22 WHIP, 461 BB, 945 K's, 1209 IP Williams: 23-22, 3.92 ERA, 1.31 WHIP, 142 BB, 238 K's, 383 IP I'd say yes, Zito is better. That said, Jerome is 3 years younger and nearly $5.5 million cheaper (and not a free agent next year)
  4. a4d just sent me this photo: http://www.simleaguebaseball.com/talltales/zito.jpg /joke recycle
  5. This is what it sounds like when doves cry
  6. Only games I'm going out of my way to see are: UCLA vs. NU LSU vs. Miami PSU vs. FSU OSU vs. ND Texas vs. USC
  7. No, but I say "Merry Ash Wednesday" on Secretary Day.
  8. Did Joe Morgan take over Goose's body there for a minute? Building ballparks with big dimensions sounds nice and all, but good luck signing any bigtime hitters to your team. Eventually, they all bend to the free agents' wills, as we saw with the fences in Detroit and US Cellular being brought in, and the threat of the same at PetCo.
  9. And Macias is hitting .375... 3 for 8, huh?
  10. Do you say, "Q-tip" instead of cotton swab or "Kleenex" instead of tissue? Big difference. A q-tip is a q-tip. It doesn't matter what brand, same with a kleenex. A coke, pepsi, sprite, dr. pepper, mountain dew, etc are all very different. what? Q-tip is a brand name and so is Kleenex. You can get Scott's tissues and you can get CVS brand cotton swabs. There is no difference. What's the difference between Q-tips and generic cotton swabs? Between Kleenex and Puffs? Very little. Now what's the difference between Coke and Mountain Dew? There is no difference in Georgia. Everything is a coke. there is pepsi coke, moutain dew coke, well you get the point. Proving (once again) that Georgians are morans
  11. Someday I'll have a job again and $5/month won't seem like such a big deal
  12. darn that turned off search feature
  13. Grudzielanek, Mientkiewicz, Bako, Elarton link

    Nascar

you stole my thunder Now, what if the race horses are driving the race cars?
  16. i proudly live in a blue state SODA OR DEATH!
  17. right, and with pierre in CF and potentially Wilson or Encarnacio in RF, you're talking 50 HR total most likely. I just can't project Murton into the 20+ range until he gets a full year under his beltt I hope I'm wrong of course
  18. i don't assume he will, i fear what will happen if he does. two different things
  19. While I'm happy that Murton seems to be the de facto LF in 2006, I have great fears about his success. With the RF options dwindling a CF who isn't being paid to drive in runs, any shortcomings by Murton will be disasterous. There must be tremendous pressure on him, especially if the Cubs end up with Jones or Encarnacion in RF. It's not out of the realm of possibility that this entire OF has fewer than 125-150 RBI combined next year.
  20. Not to be a jerk, but has anyone from Cubs mgmt EVER mentioned Encarnacion by name? Or is this just typical Cub fan pessimism?
  21. He seems to produce wherever he goes. I don't care that he's old, but I don't think he'll do a 1-year deal.
  22. And play Mabry/Patterson in RF until May 1? I didn't say it was possible, i'm just saying I don't want wilson
  23. Just like Dempster was the opening day closer and Hollandsworth was backing up Dubois last year?
  24. If Pierre can score 100 runs in a huge pitcher's park and Conine, Lowell and LoDuca behind him, he should get there in 2006
