  1. according to first post in thread: NY Giants: Clinch playoff spot with a win OR ALL THE FOLLOWING: a loss AND a Green Bay loss AND an Atlanta loss AND a Carolina loss AND a St. Louis loss.
  2. nevermind, yes, there is. NYG could get in at 7-9 if just about every other contending team also lost.
  3. is there any scenario in which a 7-9 NFC team can get the last wildcard spot?
  4. I'm still nervous as hell about the Bears. 13-2 is very impressive, but the team's schedule this year was: NFC North x2 (weak division) NFC West (weak division) AFC East (pretty good, accounts for the 2 losses) NY Giants (overhyped) Tampa Bay (suckfest) I could easily see either Dallas or New Orleans taking the Bears out in the playoffs.
  5. I'm tempted to go in to the theatre where I work (see sig) on New Year's Day, as they are showing the Outback Bowl in Hi-Def on a 33 foot wide movie screen (with full 5.1 surround)
  6. Where is the Bowl Games from 12/28-1/1 thread?
  7. If Tennessee makes the playoffs, that will easily be the best story of the year in the NFL
  8. Penn State finally got a blow out win, moving to 8-4 on the year after killing Maine.
  9. The mercurial season of DePaul continues. How can a team lose to Northwestern and a few other bad teams, but beat Kansas, URI and Cal? What a weird team.
  10. Gordon sucks when he starts, so I guess Sef would be the only option. I'm not sure a rook is ready for a starting job, hence Duhon starts. It appears to be working anyway, so why mess with it. As Stacey King said last night on the telecast, Duhon is a guy coaches like for his on court presence, etc. His stats don't look great, but he calms the team down when he's on the court, distributes the ball, etc.
  11. Am I the only one who think Morrison looks like he's wearing clown shoes?
  12. Dear Wayne Larrivee, Please, please, PLEASE stop saying "coming up". The foul is not "coming up." The 3-second violation is not "coming up". They've ALREADY HAPPENED. This isn't hockey when a penalty is called but doesn't get enforced until the offending team touches the puck. God I hate you
  13. nah, the humidor would defeat him
  14. Very true. But wtf happened to Helton's power last year? My HR contest ballot begs the same question
  15. he also died early, thus "human interest" points. That wasn't a factor. His election to the Hall was five years before he died. stop confusing my wild allegations with facts
  16. IIRC, Grace had more hits in the 90's than any other player in the game during that period. I could be wrong, though. He also led the league in slumpbusting. See, going into a slump isn't all that bad. He needed 3,000 hits to have any chance IMO. He should go into the Cubs HOF and even the Dbacks just for one hit alone. I don't think he'll get in, but if you compare his stats to Kirby Puckett, you'd think there's a glimmer of a hope. The big difference is Puckett got a ring, and for some stupid reason, that's a big discriminator. he also died early, thus "human interest" points.
  17. I predict he signs with the Cardinals and wins the MVP
  18. I have trouble with some of the very early guys like Cy Young. Not only a higher mound but pitching from, what, 50 feet away? It seems like a totally different game at that point
  19. This is apples and oranges. The aim of the two shows is totally different.
  20. off to transactions..... oh wait, I can't actually do that yet
  21. I thought a lot of games were supposed to be on national TV this year. Outside of WGN Saturdays and like 2 other games, there hasn't been much
  22. Dugout episode in 3....2....1....
  23. OMG, MCDONOUGH IS A HUGE DOUCHE BAG FOR GIVING AWAY SUCH A SACRED (YET NOT RETIRED) NUMBER!
  24. Sure, if that's a guarantee, but I don't buy it. I think Lilly/Marquis at 200 IP each would give you better years than Guzman/Marshall over 200 IP each. But that's MY opinion vs. yours...
  25. how is Bulls vs. Lakers not a national game? grrrr
