  1. pretty much. first thing I said after they lost was "i'd sure hate to play Michigan next week".
  2. it was awesome listening to the score updates of the Michigan game during the PSU game. Then the PSU game was over, and everyone in all the suites turned their TV's to the Michigan game. The last 2 minutes of the Michigan game was 1,000,000 times more exciting than any of the PSU game. The cheering could be heard down the hall in every suite on that blocked kick.
  3. so apparently the free tickets my dad scored for the PSU game today are in the Highmark Suite.....free buffet, free parking, skybox view. oh yeah
  4. Nate Longshore ftw. Derwood, I counted 10 I-AA for SEC, 6 for Big Ten And you missed South Florida as a BCS team. Big East? Don't quite know if you're questioning whether the Big East is worthy of a BCS bid(You included West VA), but yes USF is in the Big East. no, no, just checking that S.FLorida was in the Big East. didn't remember
  5. Nate Longshore ftw. Derwood, I counted 10 I-AA for SEC, 6 for Big Ten And you missed South Florida as a BCS team. Big East?
  6. turns out that they did the right thing with DuBois
  7. Just like the Kendall and Monroe deals, i'm going to reserve judgment until i see some numbers in a Cubs uniform. then, when he plays better than he did with his old team, i can laugh at you all and quote all your hilarious hyperbole
  8. just for the sake of information, the SEC and Big 10's non-con games: SEC Florida: W. Kentucky, Troy, Florida Atlantic, Florida St. Georgia: Oklahoma St., W. Carolina, Troy, GA Tech Kentucky: E. Michigan, Notre Dame Wisconsin: Washington St., UNLV, The Citadel, N. Illinois they are tied with 13 non-con games vs. BCS schools. someone else can count up 1-AA schools if they want to make that comparison
  9. the "easiest" way to compare two conferences is to run a simply RPI rating on each team. the most basic is to look at the records of each of the teams a school played, and the records of the schools those teams played. the NCAA scheduling is a total clusterhump. it's obnoxious that the Big 10 plays 12 straight weeks without a bye, while USC is playing 3 weeks later. Here's what they SHOULD (but won't) do: - EVERY team must be in a conference (I think there are only 2 or 3 who aren't anymore) - No conference larger than 12 teams - Every team plays 12 games over 13 weeks - Every team plays 10 conference games (unless conference is smaller than 11 teams) - Non-conference games are scheduled year to year (not 5 years in advance), with a rotating "conference vs. conference" schedule among BCS conferences. For example, this year, the Big 10 plays the SEC, with the #1 team from each conference playing, then the #2's, etc. - Non-conference games are scheduled by the NCAA, not the athletic directors. basically, take all the scheduling power out of the conference/school's hands and regulate and normalize it nation wide.
  10. this calls for a: :roll::roll::roll::roll::roll::roll::roll::roll::roll::roll::roll::roll::roll::roll::roll::roll::roll::roll::roll::roll::roll::roll::roll:
  11. if you're gonna put him on intentionally, the least you can do is shatter his kneecap or something
  12. i picked craig counsell because there is no good reason he should ever actually be able to hit a ball. ever. and he has more than WS ring
  13. Lou said Blanco will get the start behind the plate. You're right, so then... 1. Ryan Theriot (SS) 2. Matt Murton (LF) 3. Derrek Lee (1B) 4. Aramis Ramirez (3B) 5. Craig Monroe (RF) 6. Mark DeRosa (2B) 7. Henry Blanco © 8. Jacque Jones (CF) don't ask me why, but i can see monroe batting 2nd
  14. i'll take his .370ish OBP any day though
  15. What time do your kids go to bed? the almost-two-year-old fell asleep around 8:15 and the older one around 9:00 (eastern) i haven't fast-forwarded much besides commercials, so i've been slow to catch up
  16. wait, i missed that. rapada and coats went where to finish what trades?
  17. ramirez didn't swing at all in his first two at-bats i'm finally caught up to "real time" on my DVR, so i thought i'd drop in here
  18. How dare you? what's more insulting, what MojoPin just said or having people like Jeff Gordon and Kellie Pickler "honoring the memory" of Harry each day?
  19. yes, the game ended on a double play where the ball was thrown to 2nd base for the first out, and though the throw to 1st was late, the runner was called out because marlon anderson just slid at the shortstop and not the base. it was the right call
  20. double post
  21. I definitely feel the whole system is highly flawed. DVR has ruined what little meaning ratings ever had Not really -- if you record something on your DVR the cable company has a much more accurate read on # of households "tuning" in to a program. i'm fairly certain that cable/satellite providers don't have the means to track what every customer is watching. ratings are still done through Nielsen households, and, from what I understand, the ratings "boxes" don't track shows that are recorded
  22. I definitely feel the whole system is highly flawed. DVR has ruined what little meaning ratings ever had Would DVR really affect the ratings of a sporting event -- something very few people would want to watch on a delay? I watch Cubs games on delay all the time now. Not 2 days later or anything, but it's a lot easier to go grab a bite with the wife or take the dog for a walk, and then come back and watch the game while skimming through commercials. me too. if the game starts at 7 or 8, i record it and start watching after the kids are in bed. in fact, i watch almost everything on delay for that very reason (kids)
