  1. wow, did they hire someone from the Graphic Arts 101 class at Clearwater Community College to come up with those?
  2. but they're the Indians Why don't you understand it? The Yankess play in NY and the Indians play in the Cleve. Face it, these "experts" need quotes around them. my point was that Cleveland's track record in the post season is nearly as futile as the Cubs
  3. but they're the Indians
  4. funny how you don't see businessmen thumping their chests and pointing at the sky after business meetings
  5. so much love that they almost get to the highlights in the first 1/2 of Sportscenter /almost
  6. is park adjusted OPS+ only adjusted for the player's home park?
  7. I wasn't commenting on the fist pump though. I'm only talking about the point to the sky right before he goes into the dugout. i think he knows it gets him on TV. i have no problem with him thanking God, but let's not pretend that genuflecting in front of TV cameras and 40,000 people isn't for show I dont think it necessarily is. If he really wanted to make a spectacle out of it he could do it when he was atop the mound; but he doesnt. He does it one step away from the dugout, or if nothing else when he is crossing the foul line. You can say "well why doesn't he do it in the dugout, then." Well, most likely because you can't see the sky in the dugout, and that's the whole point of what he's doing. agree to disagree then. i'm sure there a great many ballplayers who quietly thank god or say a prayer without making a big deal out of it.
  8. just here to say that I used to have a Maui Stingrays shirt that I wore for almost 10 years. that is all
  9. State College is built mostly around PSU and our minor league team (Short-A, Pittsburgh) has done very well in it's first two years

  11. There's definitely evidence to fuel the speculation in both cases, though. Especially in terms of Cuban being a serious bidder. evidence towards speculation =/= anything substantial though. i'll be worried about owner collusion if/when we actually have some bidders
  12. way to steal Rotoworld's joke ;)
  13. i think what Z does is a lot more demonstrative than a subtle crossing of one's self. he gets a big inning-ending K, pumps his fist, screams, then points at the sky. FWIW, I hate it when Pujols and Bonds do it too. God doesn't give a crap if you hit a home run. Seriously
  14. sorry about injecting some truth into this discussion, but just about everything talked about in this thread (from Cuban being a serious bidder to Selig shutting him out) is 100% speculation at this point. let's not get worked up over stuff we're mostly making up
  15. if he was that sick he probably shouldn't have been sitting with his buddies in the pen, eh?
  16. I can think of a better time for a 10 game winning streak. 1-1 tie in NLDS was the first to come to mind. after losing game 2, yes
  17. Zambrano's reaction would have been to walk him, give up a single, hit the next batter, then give up another hit that scores at least 2 runs before being yanked. then he'd point at the sky and thank god for being so crappy I hate when people say that; it's ignorant. He does that every single time he leaves the field; good or bad. I'm positive it's a religious thing and pretty disrespectful when people make comments like that, in my opinion. you're entitled to your opinion, but I think it shows up the other team as much as a fist pump or anything. it's pretty clear God is not a Cubs fan
  18. Seeing that, it really makes it that much more sickening that they didn't even make it to 90 wins. Wow. nothing like going 3-7 in your final 10 to screw the pooch
  19. not this again
  20. i haven't truly followed hockey since the Mario/Jaromir Penguins teams of the early 90's. it's nice to see that they finally have something exciting happening in Pittsburgh again
  21. wow, was it fat and ugly day at Wrigley last night?
  22. Player A: 266/387/556 (2007); 249/381/511 (career) age 27 Player B: 291/336/520 (2007); 272/324/470 (career) age 31 Player A, please. Your stats don't reflect defense or the grit factor. black guys don't have grit nor do they carry lunch pails to work or blue collar kind of guys. nor are they scrappy, hard-nosed, gamers, spark-plugs, or guys who just play the game right
