  1. I see what you did there. (For the record, I was going to post that in Japanese, but apparently the best translation Babelfish could do was "I look at that thing there." :-k) ?? interesting story: after skipping 1/3 of my semester, I wrote a term paper and translated it entirely through bablefish for my german class. got me a C. awesome. i didn't even use bablefish. i used some random translator i found on google
  2. In case he's reading: Fukodome はカブスと、今日署名する!
  3. aren't things that grow on trees, by definition, average? and wouldn't math say that half of the major league SS's are above average, in which case, they are as common as below average SS's?
  4. spring training is a lousy way to determine who deserves the starting job
  5. It is? my fault, 7:30am now SmarterChild: The time in Tokyo, Japan is Wednesday, December 12th, 2007 6:34:25 am. so they're 15 hours ahead of central time, not 16?
  6. why wouldn't those guys want to stay? Moss will get a huge deal (maybe the highest ever for a WR), and the Patriots have shown over and over again with players that they refuse to hand out those types of deals. That's why he's almost certainly gone after the year, and most Patriots fans knew that it would be a 1 year experiment one way or the other. Stallworth I think has a much larger chance of staying. No team is going to give him a monster deal, and the Patriots will want him to be one of their outside guys again next year. He stays unless some team blows him away with an offer, which is possible depending on the free agent class. if it's just about money, then yeah. but i can't imagine that Moss, after the success he's seeing this year, would take more money to go to a crappy team
  7. why wouldn't those guys want to stay?
  8. he's pretty rough as a fielder, no? How about we fill Meph's "japan quota" and get both?
  9. the Cubs have shown that they excel at bringing hitting prospects up too early, shattering their confidence with limited playing time, sending them on frequent trips back to AAA, and destroying their trade value. See: Corey Patterson, Kevin Orie....
  10. okay, so it's now 9:15am on wednesday morning in Japan. Hendry better be on the phone right now (getting measurements for K-Fu's uniform)
  11. i would prefer Pie at SS over Theriot. yes, i'm serious
  12. this reminds me of the fallacy that the 2003 Cubs offense was better when we traded for Lofton, when the stats show that pretty much nothing changed with his arrival
  13. i went 12 for 16, second best to 13 for 16 a few weeks back. i'm bad at this
  14. Kosuke Fokudome is hotter than Kim Kardashian, but neither are as hot as Geovany Soto
  15. We've asked people not to do this anymore. ever, or just in this thread?
  16. Cherry Pumpkin Strawberry-Rhubarb Banana Cream (though that's more of a summer thing)
  17. one thing is clear, whatever he does in right field will be cold and efficient, unlike the fiery, emotional play in left
  18. I never said the Cowboys aren't a good team. I think you're a little over-sensitive when it comes to the Cowboys. The Patriots, however, are a better team -- and they've already proven it on the field this year. That's a simple fact. Does it mean there's absolutely no chance whatsoever for the Cowboys? No. But the chance is very, very small. As for having as much a chance as the Bears -- we all saw what happened to the Bears with their chance. I agree there's still plenty of football to be played though. Who knows? Maybe someone pulls off the miracle and the Pats never even get there. You might be suprised to learn I already have the Cowboys penciled into the Super Bowl. I'm far from a person who thinks they aren't good. They did struggle this weekend against a vastly inferior team though. Not sure why, but they did. i actually give the Cowboys a better chance, if only because the NFC playoffs will be a cakewalk compared to the AFC. The Cowboys set up well to run to the Super Bowl as the #1 seeds, whereas the Patriots could be upset by any of the Jaguars, Colts or Steelers.
  19. i love that one commercial with Quinn where he says something like "sorry guys, I'm busy on Sundays". ha ha, doing what, wearing a ball cap and holding a clipboard? that said, i'd take him on the Bears over Grossman/Griese
  20. well since the Red Sox ARE the new Yankees, i think the fans inherit the new Evil Empire status as well.
  21. i went with Krivsky. i originally was going to pick bowden, but he's actually managed to collect some decent offense on that team. now if only they had any pitching at all
  22. how did Seattle do with Ichiro, Sasaki and Hasegawa in 2003? *looks it up* hot damn!
  23. PSU beat Seton Hall in OT yesterday
