  1. going back because of the completely unnecessary signing of one Torii Hunter
  2. only if Hansborough isn't available
  3. in game one of the B10 tourney, Michigan is beating Iowa soundly
  4. That's what they are proposing, kind of. What you are suggesting is extortion. that's suicide marketing too. you don't pay $20M/year to NOT have your name/logo/product in every corner of the ballpark.
  5. my hopes are that Pie actually hits well this year and Soto slugs well, so that we might see a lineup like this by mid-May: 1. Soriano 2. Pie 3. Lee 4. Fukodome 5. Ramirez 6. Soto 7. DeRosa 8. Theriot/Cedeno
  6. i might like PSU's chances today if they hadn't already beat Illinois twice. I know it's weird, backwards sports logic, but it really is hard to beat the same team 3 times in the same season if one isn't significantly better than the other. PSU's only chance is to keep it close and watch the Illini brick free throws
  7. Big Ten tourney predictions? Opening Round Minnesota over Northwestern Illinois over Penn State Iowa over Michigan Quarterfinals Wisconsin over Iowa Michigan State over Ohio State Purdue over Illinois Indiana over Minnesota Semifinals Wisconsin over Michigan State Purdue over Indian Finals Purdue over Wisconsin
  8. midi-chlorians? shouldn't he be training with Mace Windu?
  9. For Ron's sake people wth is going on 7 steals in 22 at-bats? wow! i hear he has 12 put-outs in 27 plate appearances too! /weird stat

  12. Or maybe your standards are lower then mine. Because any GM who wants to win, and does whatever takes (not necessarily meaning stupid trades, signings) to win, and does this consistantly, is in my book, a good GM. Maybe your not use to the idea of a GM who wants to win, because Hendry definately does want to win. Hendry does get his fair share of blame, but it's not because he isn't trying. I honestly believe people on this board, underrate Hendry as a GM. Actually winning >>>>>>>>>>>> Desire to win That falls on the players to play, and the manager to managed the players. Not the GM. Hendry, IMO, has done an admirably job putting together this team. That's not to say there isn't holes in the team....as of right now, until proven otherwise, the Cubs have holes at CF/SS and C. But otherwise, the Cubs are in good shape to repeat as NL Central champs. admirable doesn't cut it. with his payroll he has put together a pretty mediocre team

  14. oh, welcome to the board. I got DBTman hooked up over here from (duh) a DBT message board
  15. it worked in Boston, right?
  16. looks like Lee is still scuffling
  17. So you're saying the umpire of love might have made some favorable calls for him? I think that's just one of the many perks of being a MLB player... i was at a spring training game at the Toronto Blue Jays' stadium last March and I can tell you that many player wives aren't all that great. Sure, big fake boobs, but caked on makeup, tacky clothes and voices like nails on a chalkboard
  18. Who knows if Lou is still mad at Fox though. Fox got yanked out of the game immediately after one of his at-bats last August and never got another at-bat for the rest of the season. I'm not sure that he is going to get many chances with the team. Why, what happened to set Lou off? No one knows for sure, but the speculation was that Fox wasn't being as patient as Lou liked. Lou started him one day against the Giants. Fox saw a total of 5 pitches in 3 at-bats. After the end of the 3rd at-bat, Lou was visibly upset and pulled him from the game. The next day, it was reported he would be sent back to the minors, and he ended up not getting back in a game in the majors the rest of the year. You spend years being led to believe swing early and swing often is the only way to make it and then a Cubs manager actually punishes you for impatience. Must be confusing. it could be a lot worse. imagine the underclassmen at Michigan having to move from Lloyd Carr's to Rich Rodriguez's offensive scheme
