  1. bases loaded, no-out situation with a one run lead
  2. I like the idea of setting up the divisions like the NFL, with 4 division winners and no wild-cards in each league. Baseball is way too "traditional" (ugh) and would never do it, even though it's been 15 years since the last realignment ETA: Something like this: NL East -------- Mets Phillies Nationals Pirates NL West -------- Giants Padres Dodgers Rockies NL North -------- Cubs Brewers Reds Cardinals NL South -------- Marlins Braves Astros Expansion Team AL East --------- Yankees Red Sox Toronto Baltimore AL West --------- D-Backs Angels A's Mariners AL North --------- White Sox Tigers Twins Indians AL South --------- Royals Rangers Rays Expansion Team
  3. yeah, that worked
  4. Cubs looking to move 23 games over .500 for the first time since September 27, 1989
  5. just wait until Clemens, Bonds, etc. aren't elected. At that point it should just be shut down

  7. dumbest organization in pro sports? dumbest question in recent NSBB history? he pitched a good game, but like i said, there were financial reasons behind the Twins' decision to leave him in the minors. You could also call Tampa Bay idiots for keeping Evan Longoria at AAA to start the year. the point is, it's ridiculous to suggest that a small-market team that regularly contends for division titles is the dumbest organization in pro sports when you have the baltimore orioles, atlanta hawks, l.a. clippers, minnesota timberwolves, houston texas, arizona cardinals, atlanta falcons, new york islanders, columbus blue jackets, and plenty more terribly-run organizations that rarely do anything right. it was hyperbole, yes, but an organization that trades Santana for pennies on the dollar and then won't call up arguably the best pitcher in the division is not smart Because those two decisions outweight everything else right? Since '01 they've had a winning season every year but last. This will be their 7th out of 8. They've also won 90+ four times and are on pace to do it again this year. Their highest payroll in that span was $71M and they've been under $60M in 6/8 years including '08. Clearly they're incompetent. so if you've built a perennial contender, why sell off your Cy Young caliber ace during the off season for pennies on the dollar? If you're determined to trade him before he reaches free agency, fine, see where you are come trade deadline time. overall, the organization has done a very good job with the resources they have (especially considering they were lobbying for contraction not too long ago). but the decision making in the past year has been very suspect. Keeping Santana coupled with not burying Liriano in the minors would probably have netted them a near double digit lead in the division right now. don't get me started on how they've ruined Delmon Young
  8. so yeah, Santo basically pissed off a lot of the people who would eventually be voting. my prediction stands: he'll make it in the first vote after he dies. suddenly everyone will get a soft heart and feel bad for him. it's a shame, as they aren't voting him in now for his performance, and I don't think his numbers will be what gets him in after he dies.
  9. TBS wouldn't be bad if they used Chip Caray/Harold Reynolds
  10. I'm seeing Radiohead tonight, so my night is already going to be awesome. Coming home to see that the Cubs won would just be gravy
  11. almost? i think it's pretty clear he was, and has been. There is a segment of the voting body who just doesn't like the guy *cough*new york media*cough* if only it were that simple. the new york media don't hold enough votes to blacklikst him all alone
  12. almost? i think it's pretty clear he was, and has been. There is a segment of the voting body who just doesn't like the guy

  14. Jim Edmonds in the throw back game. i meant player reaction. Maybe Pie's HR back in April was better. Don't know. But Reed swinging and raising his fist right away was amazing
  15. dumbest organization in pro sports? dumbest question in recent NSBB history?
  16. that Reed Johnson reaction was the best of the year I think
  17. Snell is so horrible. Beat the snot out of him please
  18. that line drive to the noggin more or less signaled the end of his usefulness
  19. oh wise one, whom are you referring to? probably the fact that the Angels are about 8 or 9 games above their Pythag., meaning they aren't as good as the record shows
  20. Are you out of your ---SOAPDROPPING--- mind? the time will come eventually when the stadium is not structurally viable anymore. At that point, the team has to decided between more or less gutting the current stadium and rebuilding or starting from scratch at a different location. If the Wrigleyville neighborhood people start up about construction noise, etc., that's when you tell them "have fun with your plummeting property value, cuz we're outta here."
  21. Interesting theory as I've never noticed her dolled up as much as she was Wednesday either. What if she was dating a Cub covertly? That'd be pretty sweet. Clearly it's Geo If I were him, i'd give it a shot
  22. Clearly, there are 3 crazy people who vote in the AP poll. Three crazy coaches' sports information major interns, you mean. fixed
