since Penn State is in good shape to win 19-21 games this year, i'm fully expecting Talor Battle to get arrested and Jamell Cornely to fall down an elevator shaft in the next few days

I don't think teams should be able to host bowl games. It pretty much runs directly against the entire point of bowl games (which is two similarly talented teams meeting on a neutral field) Disclaimer: I'm a Big Ten homer (I know you're a PSU guy) How do you feel about USC getting to play in the Rose Bowl, LSU in the Sugar Bowl, ASU (once in a blue moon) in the Fiesta, or Miami in the Orange Bowl? I'm not thrilled by it, but it is what it is. Ticket sales are supposed to be split down the middle by school, but I'm sure local fans end up buying tix from the other school all the time.

First off, the Big Ten plays 18 conference games. Secondly, unless you have a bear of a non-conference(Michigan), it's gonna take at least 22 wins to make it from the Big Ten this year. right, so 9-9 would put them at 21 or 22 wins with an ACC road victory. Their B10 schedule isn't easy (they have to play Purdue and Mich St. twice) so 9-9 is probably a stretch anyways.

Penn State's schedule shows that they should be 12-1 or 11-2 at the start of the Big Ten schedule. Can they go 8-8 in conference? Would 19 or 20 wins get them into the Dance?

Penn State is going to give some teams problems this year. They're fast, active on defense, and can shoot the 3. They'll have big problems with any teams with size on the front line, though

i'm basing my opinion on watching Ball State this year and knowing that they aren't out-recruiting Notre Dame, Purdue, or even Indiana in-state. Again, I think you're underrating Ball State, and overrating the Big 10 this year. I think Ball State could give everyone but Penn State/Ohio State a game this year. and I don't. Ball State's best players would be Big Ten teams medium level players. 7 or 8 of the Big Ten teams would win the MAC this year (if not more)
