  1. Not that Ryan Leaf was a good pick, but I'm pretty sure he was the second overall pick not the #1 pick. Not to defend Ryan Leaf or anything but he had all the physical tools to be a successful player in the NFL he just turned out to be a moron. He is a large reason they have huge psych evaluations for players specially quarterbacks now. He was truly the consensus #2 player behind Peyton Manning. SD just got unlucky and well maybe should have done a little more evaluations outside of the football field. While I agree, in a sense, with what you are saying, mostly picks are judged based on how they perform, and Ryan Leaf's performance in San Diego was beyond ridiculous. They were both hugely wasted picks, even if Matt Bush was not a celebrated high caliber prospect, while Ryan Leaf was. Didn't Ryan Leaf show up to training camp having not thrown a single football (or worked out) since the combine?
  2. and since ownership isn't changing in th near future, it's hardly worth constantly bringing up. It is when people want to take swings at a GM like Paxson for things that are out of his control. no one knows what's going on with the Stoudemire deal, though. you simply assume that Reinsdorf is meddling
  3. hmmmm......when the Big Ten's leading scorer has been held to 5 points in the last 3 halves, his team just might be struggling
  4. http://hoboken411.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/09/debbie-downer-lottery.jpg you're unclear on the concept of the thread

  8. lol guess again loser we freaking better be IMB! needs to get crack-a-lackin' then

  10. PSU at home against Minny today. I'm still hoping they can finish out 3-3, but the way they've played recently, I'm not counting on it.
  11. I just love the # of other players who are being interviewed on various TV and radio shows, all acting like A-Rod is some isolated case that we should all be ashamed of. If 103 other players also tested positive, there's a good chance that a lot of these interviewees are being huge hypocrites right now
  12. Explain. He didn't pull off any coups, but he didn't do anything unforgivable either. Even Tyrus/Aldridge isn't looking terrible. Thabo? Philly drafted Thabo and then traded him to the Bulls for Rodney Carney
  13. his successor will be MacPhail, so be careful what you wish for
  14. i would argue that sandpaper/spitballing has a more direct impact on a given game than any PED use
  15. not to mention allegedly juiced balls post-strike
  16. eckstein isn't bad considering that he's a shortstop. what's not to love about that 88 career OPS+?
  17. That's a myth. Baseball fans had come back before after strikes and they would have eventually come back again. The steroid era was a black eye for baseball, made a mockery of legitimate records that had stood for years and it will be looked at by historians like the Black Sox scandal is viewed now but no Selig can't do anything about it now (he had his chance) and is just posturing. note Wrigley attendance figures pre-1998 and post-1998
  18. I don't understand this at all. The Cubs are clearly the best team in the division. They've even added distance between them and the next best team. How can you not be excited? This team on paper is better than last's years team at this point. because outside of the 5th starter spot, there isn't much to pay attention to. Spring Training is 3x longer than it needs to be, and it's hard to get excited about baseball until we're a lot closer to the season. Who cares if it's 3 times too long? What are you going to do start the season in mid-March? I am a baseball fanatic. When baseball is on, I am watching. When the offseason arrives, I fall into a cocoon and hibernate with lesser sports like football and basketball to get me by. By early February, I am dying to get any glimpse of my summer warriors on a baseball field. You could start Spring Training on November 1st and I would be fine with it. start spring training 4 weeks later

  21. can we please make spring training be 2 weeks long?
  22. are we bringing this back or what?
  23. 14 point lead
  24. could've dribbled more
  25. When the trap works this well, you wonder why they don't do it more often
