  1. While talent rules in the NBA, I'd say you need some semblance of a head coach to be competitive. VDN is a complete joke. D'Antoni would have been so great for this club. Derrick Rose #'s would be even better than they are now, this team would be fun as well to watch and it would have helped in attracting FA's. Yes, he eventually would have worn out his time, but would have brought this team a point were they are ready to contend. The fact he isn't coaching this team is a complete and utter joke. Thanks Reinsdorf and Pax..again. Vinny is a joke. Lots of us said this when he was first hired too. I don't understand why Pax did this. It doesn't take much basketball knowledge to see that a guy with no coaching experience is not the right choice. I have little basketball expertise. How come I could see this and Pax couldn't? I'm just asking because that move seemed dumb at the time, and even dumber now. Even if Vinny somehow finds his coaching voice now, it will still have been a bad move because we've now lost time. white point guard fetish?

  4. me too. today was the easiest day to pick so far I think
  5. the beauty of DirecTV is that for the 4+ years I've had it, I've never had to deal with the channel controversies. Big Ten Network, NFL Network, MLB.....all part of the standard lineup. DirecTV >>>>>>>>>> Dish when it comes to sports. No comparison.I can't deny that, but I'm extremely hesistant to switch to Direct TV and give up my dual-tuner 622 receiver. Dish Network's superior equipment is really the only thing they have going for them. i'll take the programming over the equipment, especially since the latest firmware updates have made the DirecTV HD DVR pretty decent
  6. two teams I don't care about + Thom Brennaman = just changed the channel to what??? for now, Anderson Cooper 360. thinking of playing a game of NCAA '09 though
  7. two teams I don't care about + Thom Brennaman = just changed the channel
  8. I'd like to pretend that there are no Cubs fans who would pitch a fit on YouTube if Ryan Theriot signed with the Cardinals
  9. why are there two threads on this?
  10. Wonder why your other post was deleted? Hmmm... I know that every system crowns a champion, hence the reason why I have never made an argument for one system over another. I would prefer an 8 team playoff, sure, but I'm not going to argue that it would determine the "best" team any better than any other system. The "best" team is a myth, period. because i hate talking to you for _____________ reason. And no it's not because you're smart, make good points or anything good you may think it is. The best team is a myth? There is always a best team and if you think other wise you're absolutely a dumbass. We may not be able to completely determine or evaluate who that best team is within a thirteen or fourteen game schedule, but it always exists. so what? no sport crowns the "best" team as champion, so what does it matter who is?

  12. that's fine. my point is that if you're using BCS conference membership as some higher order for consideration in bowl games, get them on the same page schedule-wise.
  13. i'm curious why there is no outcry over the ridiculous disparity in scheduling between the conferences. why does USC get THREE bye weeks and the Big 10 teams get just one (and last, year NONE)? Get everyone on the same schedule, make the championship games a week earlier, and have the first round of a playoff in the 2nd week of December (at the Top 4's home stadiums).
  14. Fox only does the Sugar/Orange/Fiesta/BCS Title game. It's horrible.
  15. yeah, they let them score
  16. the alternative (playing in Big 10 country) isnt' fair either. but cold weather teams will always have a slight disadvantage like this. LSU playing OSU in Louisiana, etc., etc.
  17. you can kill a dude doing that
  18. If you're gonna cheat, you should get some results beyond a home game against either the 2nd place Big Ten team or the 1st place Big Ten team in a down year every single year.(That was a horribly structured sentence) Iowa in 2002, Michigan in 2003 and 2006, Illinois in 2007, Ohio State in 2008, Penn State in 2008... The poor Big 10 just is SOOO UNLUCKY that USC keeps catching them when they're down  You're grasping at straws. That's what we call missing the point. USC plays a home game every years on January 1st because they're too undisciplined to try against teams they should beat the crap out of. Their opponents in these games are 2nd place Big Ten teams if the Big Ten is good(becuase the 1st place team goes to the title game) or a 1st place Big Ten team when the conference is down. There were a ton of Penn State fans at the Rose Bowl so it's not exactly a true home game. Florida, Texas, USC and Penn State all lost to teams that they have more talent than and should have beaten and in each case but Texas, probably beaten handily. Every team has a letdown or two at some point in the year or a game where they play poorly. Sometimes they win, others they don't. And even if USC is playing against the Big 10 in the Rose Bowl each year, they're still routing the first or second place Big 10 team every time they play them. It's still remarkable what they've been able to do. It's a home game in that the USC players don't have to travel, can stay in their own dorms/apartments, hang out with their girlfriends during the week, whatever. It shouldn't be that big a deal but a "tie-in" game that requires one of the teams to have to travel 2000 miles every year....

  20. You know how you would have not been robbed. Beating an Oregon St. team that managed to score 3 points against Pitt. Another year, another no championship for you. Soooooooooo sad. Oregon State is a good, consistent program though. And they beat Pitt without the Rodgers brothers (Quizz Rodgers was Pac 10 player of the year). I don't see what's such an embarrassment about losing to them. Well, Penn State beat Oregon State 45-14. And USC beat Ohio State 35-3. Citing the results of those two games means nothing because they cancel each other out. agreed. the transitive property doesn't apply to sports
  21. Penn State's vaunted O-Line is getting blowed up
  22. it's less about USC not going undefeated and more about who they lose to.
  23. Damian Williams is so open that he gains 30 yards a catch. the only joke in there is PSU's secondary
  24. It's really hard to go undefeated and expecting a team to do it often, let alone every year, is pretty absurd. USC's talent level is head and shoulders above the rest of the conference. When they've lost (recently), it's been to far inferior teams. That's a coaching/discipline/motivation issue
