    It's not necessarily the wrong way, but it doesn't mean we have to like it. It's inexcusable that a team with the market/resources of the Cubs are fielding this team right now. Fielding a garbage team really doesn't help you all that much when the baseball draft doesn't work like football's or basketball's and it doesn't really give you much in the way of trade-able assets. Ultimately the default is you're just bad almost for the sake of being bad, and that should never be an acceptable outcome. At the pace things are going this year is a failure, pure and simple. This year was always going to be a failure, so it was out of their control. Even if they signed Fielder and Darvish this team isnt sniffing .500

    I find Landon's recent comments about retirement troubling. Especially the whole bit about not having the fire like Clint. It's nothing new, but Landon has never understood how his over-thought, non alpha-male, non-cliche public comments only exacerbate the comparisons to Dempsey and reinforce his being perceived as soft. He's very much like LeBron with less of an ego. He doesn't fit into the traditional, alpha athlete persona that people like Michael Jordan conditioned fans into wanting from their best player. he'll be fine when he signs for Everton this summer/winter.
